The way I see it is they pay for and control the BB unconditionally and need supply no reasons, warnings, or whatnot. Though only one mod has answered a post of mine, and her moddy eyes didnn't look too terribly trollish to me.....

Hey, it's free to the public, so what's unfair?

I read this and all I hear is: "I feel like the mods and former mods are breaking the rules, but when I break the rules, I get punished in a way consistent with someone who breaks the rules!"

At best, two wrongs don't make a right.

If you feel that you don't possess any of those three things...maybe just staying away from electronics all together would be ideal. Asking for a temp ban is like saying you need a caretaker to look after you because you're too lazy to care for yourself.

jus' sayin'.

I have no problem maintaining self discipline when I need to or want to.  However I know it is not so easy for some.....that is why it is a popular option at some forums.

Give them a title "Self Banned"

How 'bout no?

Also, you necroposted for that? I get it: you're trying to show us how much self-discipline you've got. Good show; now try six months.

Surprising how easy it is to just PM an admin and have your request granted, without making such a public mess over it...

If you have a public "Ban Me" thread where request are made it serves as a public notification of why you are currently banned.  Why should this be handled in a PM anyways?

What part of "no" did you not understand?

I bet you couldn't do six months.

So? What if I couldn't? I'm not the one posturing my self-discipline. Also, it would sort of defeat the purpose of being on-staff.

Not everyone is a mod and you could always resign your position.  Suppose this forum became your life and you realized that a healthy mind requires variety.  Wouldn't it beneficial to have the option of requesting to be cutoff?.....At least temporarily?

There is no down side(that I can see) to having a "Ban Me" thread where people request temporary self bans.
