Suppose God (christian) was proved to exist (imperically)?

RE: Suppose God (christian) was proved to exist (imperically)?
Uhhh... What?

Everyone is an atheist or a theist. If you think that's not true, you are using non-standard definitions. Which is fine, but we have to agree what words mean before we can discuss anything. I have lots about this on website if you'd care to look.

I'm an atheist, but I also don't care whether there is a god Smile

I just have no problem being clear about my beliefs, or lack of.

Yes you do. Otherwise you wouldn't call yourself an atheist.

The logic... It's overwhelming! AHHHH!!!! Arrgghh

I am an atheist, and even if I never use that term for the rest of my life, I will remain an atheist unless my religious beliefs change. It doesn't mean I'm concerned about god. at most I'm concerned about the followers of religion.

How would it affect your atheism? How would you reconcile yourself to embracing the need to worship him, Worship  to denying your atheism? Dead Horse

Would you study the Bible?

I would be in deep shit, my belief is so ingrained I don't think I'd be able to make the change.

My atheism, as I'd expect for the vast majority of atheists, is a provisional  position, not a dogmatic one. My atheism is an outgrowth of properly applied skepticism and critical thinking when applied to the god claim.

If a the Biblical god was empirically proven to exist, my atheism would end.

But if the way he is depicted in the Bible is an accurate representation of his nature, I would not worship such a god. In fact, I'm not sure any being should be worshiped.

If said god felt it necessary to send me to hell for my position, there's not much I could do about it except for plead my case. But I would go with the knowledge that I was more moral than this god.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Right. He's an untrustworthy vicious tyrant, so you could bow down to him your whole life and he could still throw you down the chute. Maybe he'd respect us more for standing up to him.

I'm neither. Both the atheist and theist are concerned with the question of God.

I have no question.

I have no question.

How can you possibly be 'neither'?

Do you believe that a god or gods exist?

That question doesn't exist in me. At all. Ever.

You can't even tell me what "God" really means. All you're going to do is repeat what you read or someone else told you. You yourself don't even know what you're saying. They're just empty words. Repeating like a machine. You're repeating all the crap that was put in your head. That's all you're doing now.

You ask me the question. Where does that question come from? It is born from the answers that were put there by others. The questions come from the answers you already have. Otherwise there would be no such question.

I'm not asking you for a question, I'm asking you for a response to it.
And good lord that's some Chopra-vaguely-eastern-word-salad shit in the last half of your post.

I'm telling you there is no question. I don't know what you're talking about.

And actually neither do you.

The question isn't in this body. There is no answer here about Gods.

There was nothing difficult about what I just said. All you're saying now is repetition of what other told you. That's all you're doing. Repeating like a machine. Your words have no substance, no power. Your words are nothing at all.

Maybe if you're quiet you can find the answers that you're looking for. And the answers will come to you when you stop asking stupid questions.
