Transgendered children

I daresay that is still the correct course of action. As a source amalgamation it is fine, but too many citations lie behind paywalls. Academic articles doing that is pretty absurd to me.

Okay, disregard the wikipedia part of what I posted... despite there being several academic sources cited in it... if you want, but that still leaves out the bolded part. It sounds to me like you made an assumption about this situation without reading the whole article. The kid was diagnosed by psychiatrists, just like you agreed they should be. Certainly if this was a case of doing it for attention as you claim, a medical professional(s) would have seen it for what it is?

Our opinions couldn't be further apart in regards to transgenderism... but I can certainly understand the Right's general backlash towards trannies as a result of pushes by transtrenders and feminists. I can't respect that crap either.

Lot of frustration from the fact that they claim to represent me. I'm not particularly close to Blaire White either, given my willingness to say that I've never been a boy in my life (regardless of appearances and treatment by society)... but I still wouldn't want my parents to have just jumped right on board when I first told them.

I think the situation is complex, and a simple answer isn't possible without doing severe injustice to a number of children and adults. There's a solid contingent of me that says 'fuck it, let the damage be on their own heads' level of libertarianism... but there's another part of me that doesn't want to see children suffer. As I say, it's a complex issue. Hence my weighing in on it from the angle I feel is responsibly sane.

To some small degree I feel your frustration on this, because (although nowhere near to the same level as trans people) the people you have issue with are also misrepresenting gay people. I don't respect a lot of that stupid "76 genders" shit said in the name of trans people on Tumblr either, or when they invent new trendy sexualities, they are creating a horrible image of the LGBT community.

With that said though I think we need some more balance here. Based on your response to me I think we're on the same page where children transitioning is concerned, and I think we'd agree that 8 is a little too young. Having said that I wouldn't necessarily accuse these lesbian parents of being overly SJW and talking about "toxic masculinity" without evidence for it. This might have just been a kid who has been saying they're trans for a while, so I can have some more respect for it. I'm just prepared to give people the benefit of the doubt.

The bit that confuses me the most is where the conclusion of "Pink hair = failure" came from?

My girlfriend, for instance, has some pretty high ambitions that she can fully well achieve, being bright as all hell, yet has pink hair? There are therapists for friends of mine, that have pink hair, or other colours. It's not like someone in a position of power goes "Pink hair? Obviously a total degenerate"....

I would get involved in the rest of it, but i don't know enough to dive in head first on transgender issues, other than i support people for who they want to be Big Grin

But, again, this child is not transitioning at the age of 8, and no one has ever said that they should.

They are talking about a completely reversible process decided upon after years of therapy that will enable a smoother, easier transition when the kid is an adult if that is what they want to do at that time.

How this turned into bashing this lesbian couple whom none of us know because they are clearly pushing anti-masculine and feminazi views onto this child is pure lunacy, and, well, quite befitting of Violet, so I don't know why I'm surprised.

I don't know anything about him admittedly, but this was not the source or the information that pointed at.

Quote:As for Thomas (or whatever they're called now), perhaps they truly are suffering from gender dysphoria. However, I'm not unaware of the failures of our mental health system, and I'm not unaware of the many things about this particular case that overall make me wary and concerned for the child. I know that there are feminists who adopt boys to teach them how to not be rapist or indeed masculine at all, and as I say: this case is hella suspect. Letting a child have pink hair? That really doesn't make me feel that the parents much care for how their child is going to do when they hit the 'real world'... it's a frightening case. It's the best I can do to hope that the child is legitimately suffering from gender dysphoria, and to resent the parents for rushing into this. So they threatened genital mutilation: who the hell even told them pussies were a thing before they reached puberty? Undecided Irresponsible.

I don't know if this is a serious question, but it if is, I'd wager a guess it was their parents. Which usually happens with young children, definitely long before puberty in most cases.

pushes to what.....?   Stop treating you as second class citizens (or worse)?

What is it, exactly, that you're talking about..and when you say understand do you mean "understand" like I understand why the grand wizard of the kkk would say what he does..or understand as in empathize and legitimize?

The trans bathroom kerfuffle that went on for months and months? Obama inserting in constant executive orders for us? The way that gay marriage went all the way to the supreme court and turned into legislation (the whole legislation from the bench idea)? This: http://www.ohrc.on.ca/en/policy-preventi...expression ?

Yes, there's a backlash... and it hasn't come out of nowhere. To say nothing about the protests with women wearing vagina hats, and the riots, etc... at some point it all starts to blend together, and at some point: conservatives start to blend us in when them, because they've co-opted us, and they're as freaky as a Gay Pride Parade.

There are like 10K KKK members at most... I'm not sure what the KKK has to do with anything here.

-Ahh yes, people who claim to be gay who are against gay marriage going through the Supreme Court.  No, that's not fucking legislation at all.  It's always hilarious how the Republicunts have no fucking clue what they're talking about 99% of the time.  The Supreme Court didn't pass any laws.  They overrode the laws banning gay marriage using the goddamn constitution.  The 14th amendments specifically.  Denying same sex couples from getting married is bullshit pushed by the Authoritarian Christian Right who would gladly stone gay people if people didn't get their morals from places other than a piece of shit book written by men who fucked animals.

-Ahh yes, the bathroom issue.  The one the Republicans fucking came up with first.  Because before transpeople were using the bathroom just fine without any laws necessary.

-And then calling a gay pride parade 'freaky'.  Yeah, you're a miserable cunt.

That's very fair. It's something that I picked up on The Donald these last few months (had no idea when the story first broke, though I was aghast then as well).

I've become a lot less trusting in the last year or two... it can get pretty exhausting Smile You're right though, it was quite unfair of me to assume those things without doing sufficient background research. Sad

Have you been to a gay pride parade? They're incredibly oversexualized... I wouldn't want to see a bunch of straight men thrusting the air wearing only a thong... and I wouldn't want to see 'dykes on bikes' in the least attractive or conservative leather clothing choices I've ever seen. They're intense, and I dislike them because of their worst element.

It was fine when the Republicans came up with it... fighting it so hard on our behalf was the only thing that has ever made me rethink using a public bathroom in 6 years (god I'm getting old).

Heh, so you say. We could debate that, but it's happened, it's over, and this is a thread about trannies specifically... long topic, easily go off topic completely.

Yeah, that was embarrassing...but something tells me we don;t think it was embarrasing for the same reasons....

Quote:Obama inserting in constant executive orders for us?
IKR, shouldn't have had to come to that....I mean, what kind of a shithole do we live in when people won;t stop being insufferable cunts unless the president issues an executive order....really?

Quote:The way that gay marriage went all the way to the supreme court and turned into legislation (the whole legislation from the bench idea)? This: http://www.ohrc.on.ca/en/policy-preventi...expression ?
Again....it hardly sems like it should have had to..but, we live in the sort of shithole where, apparently, it does...can't just let them sign the papers can we?  We've gotta throw a big hissy fit about it.  It's what jesus would have wanted.

Quote:Yes, there's a backlash... and it hasn't come out of nowhere.
OFC it hasn't come out of nowhere, it's come out of the bigoted grundle of an america that people convinced themselves we weren't.......?

Yeah, fuck those motherfuckers for forcing conservatives to lump you in with other groups they hate...just like they've always done.  The nerve! It;s clear from your comments that you, personally, have been coopted....but obviously not by any gay agenda, lol.

It was an easy example...I thought that they may have become irrelevant to...and then, boom, 2016...they show themselves to be positively mainstream. Not exactly an answer to the question they served as an example of, though..eh?
