Atheists, do you support same-sex marriage?

RE: Atheists, do you support same-sex marriage?
I'm against all marriage. It's blatant discrimination against people - like myself - who are too stupid and ugly to find anyone willing to marry them.

I feel that pain, brother.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

apparently I am in the minority. I'm in favor of removing marriage completely and taxing everyone equally.

Maybe replace official recognition of marriage with an organized process for winning breeding rights ??

Marriage is not just about taxes.  It affects parental duties and rights, inheritance, other financial obligations (in some states, you are liable for your spouse's debts), the right to make healthcare decisions in the event one is incapacitated, and probably some other things that I am forgetting.  To get a complete list, you would have to look at the laws of the particular jurisdiction with which you are concerned, as the laws vary from one place to the next.  That makes it a very interesting and unique type of contract.

That's one of the problems with marriage. There is so much packaged into it. Marriage should be modularized into many smaller contracts and be disassociated from the religious word, "marriage". That way the religious people wont care because it has nothing to do with religion.
