Norway scraps PC blasphemy laws.

RE: Norway scraps PC blasphemy laws.
I didn't know this was something liberals typically advocated. I'm about as socially liberal as they come and I'm right on defense. Of course, I'm weird.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

We need a global law saying gods are powerful enough to look after themselves, and that upsetting their feelings shouldn't be something to worry about.

Quote:An infinite God ought to be able to protect himself, without going in partnership with State Legislatures. Certainly he ought not so to act that laws become necessary to keep him from being laughed at. No one thinks of protecting Shakespeare from ridicule, by the threat of fine and imprisonment.

Civility isn't in preventing getting offended, civility is what you do when you get offended.

+1 rep for you for this.  Well put.

Never thought I'd rep a guy who likes Abba.  Guess the world is a-changin'. Tongue

My theory is that, since excessive heat can damage the brain, people in cold countries are less likely to suffer from brain damage.

I disagree (when it comes to the law). Sweden is doing absolutely nothing to stop the flow of illegal immigrants and "asylum seekers" (who are, for the most part, lazy and religious economic migrants). The people who truly need asylum are very few - they're the ones who want to leave Islam and who could be persecuted in their home country.
The only party that tried to make changes, the Sweden Democrats, have been isolated from your parliament by the other parties for allegedly being "racist" (Islam is not a race).

After the last parliamentary election in Norway in 2013, the laws have begun to once again favor Norwegian people and their (very secular) culture.
Denmark also has an election this year, which I hope will be defined by the issue of immigration.

I know I have absolutely no say in Scandinavian politics, but I consider these three countries to be the example the world should follow (in all possible ways). And I'd hate to see them be destroyed by foreign, regressive cultures.
