North Korean minister of defense executed

And where have we benefited (oil-wise) from any of those invasions?

Who is "we?"

Surely you don't think that "WE" gain anything from this?

Meanwhile, the fucking oil companies are cleaning up.

They would be all over it like stink on shit if there was anything to it.

The problem with this example is that Kerry and Obama would not benefit from bringing this out. They are employed / controlled by the same powers that told Bush what to do. In other words they are on the same side.

Honestly, at this point, it seems like the only reason the West doesn't destroy this guy (besides the fear of reprisal from China) is because, quite frankly, it's only a matter of time before the whole nation self-destructs.

There's a bunch of reasons for this:
* As seen in the OP, Kim Jong-Un is hell-bent on destroying any possible rivals, almost certainly leading to one hell of a succession crisis when he died.
* The nation has hardly any natural resources and the vast majority of the people in the nation are starving, thanks to Kim dynasty's policies.
* For all the sabre-rattling they engage in, North Korea's not likely to be able to actually do much power; if so much as one shell hits Seoul (and I'd be very surprised if their nukes can get much farther than South Korea), the armistice that put the Korean War on perpetual hold is over, and, given that nothing short of a Zerg Rush could lead to a North Korean victory in the face of the opposition of, well, most of the world, North Korea's existence would also be over.

Just because we are clumsy and shot ourselves in the foot instead and didn't gain a cent does not mean we didn't fire the gun with the nefarious intent to murder someone else for our own profit.

Unfortunately majority of the electorate is still too steeped in the foolish exceptionalism bullshit and the infamous "my country right or wrong" tradition to continence leaders who would forthrightly admit that as a nation we behaved both reprehensibly and foolishly at the same time.

I always remember this line from Spartacus.

I don't know what our soldiers are getting their balls blown off for.  Sure as hell isn't my idea.  But somebody is benefitting.

I guess I misspoke. Please show me where the oil companies (oil companies that matter to TBTB in the the USA) are benefiting.

The difference is Caesar was generous to "their Rome" with both circus and bread.   We seem to want to economize on the bread.

I'm not one of those. I recognize that our leaders can do stupid things. I do not support my country when it is in the wrong. But I'm tired of this 'war for oil' bullshit. I see no evidence for it. The national Democratic party doesn't seem to either because they don't use it against Republicans - unless they are in on it too?

I accept that I may be naive and am not seeing it. I invite anyone to show me the evidence for a 'war for oil'. If you can't, it would be best to hold yourself to the same standards we demand of the other side: Don't spout shit you can't back up with facts.

You're kidding, right?

Quote:Yes, the Iraq War was a war for oil, and it was a war with winners: Big Oil.

It has been 10 years since Operation Iraqi Freedom's bombs first landed in Baghdad. And while most of the U.S.-led coalition forces have long since gone, Western oil companies are only getting started.
Before the 2003 invasion, Iraq's domestic oil industry was fully nationalized and closed to Western oil companies. A decade of war later, it is largely privatized and utterly dominated by foreign firms.
From ExxonMobil and Chevron to BP and Shell, the West's largest oil companies have set up shop in Iraq. So have a slew of American oil service companies, including Halliburton, the Texas-based firm Dick Cheney ran before becoming George W. Bush's running mate in 2000.
