Not cold hard scientific facts!

Aractus, Jor, any truth in this?

In my case it was neither. I noted some inconsistencies in the way I held my beliefs as a theist, and once I corrected those inconsistencies, I came to the conclusion that I could no longer hold to my former opinions. It was an examination of the nature of my own behavior, applying reason to it, that led to my becoming an atheist.

I wonder how, if at all, the world feels different to you without a sense of connection to a deity (assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that you had one).

I think a lot of us who respect you would love to hear any details you'd care to divulge.

The strange thing is that I don't feel all that different. I've always sort of lived in two worlds, the theist and the atheist, so there isn't really any newness. I've always been sympathetic to the religious impulse, and I still am. I've also always been sympathetic to the atheist position as well. Nothing much has changed in the way I view religion. I just no longer could maintain my own religious impulse in the face of the contradictions within myself that I saw. I still have artwork depicting Kali on the walls. And my necklaces with images of the goddess hang where they've always hung. I haven't stopped being moved by the artwork, but the necklaces no longer have any magic in them. I have no desire to put them on.
