So, if we meet at a Starbucks to chat about Christianity and atheism, which of you shows up?
The same guy you've been talking to all along. Go back and read my response the last two PMs between us. I try to never be a jerk, but I have a quick response to idiotic claims such as the one you made previously in this thread. If someone threatened your family with death, you would respond with "ohh, bless their soul?"
And I have no desire to travel anywhere to talk about Christianity. So you won't meet anyone.

First, I was being facetious. The "God bless 'em" part should have been a tip-off. Who talks like that in real life except Baptist looneys?
And as a Catholic, I've been on the same end of those conversations with Southern Baptists as you have.
As for threatening you: well, that's a bit dramatic, isn't it? Did someone say that they were going to kill you?
Or did someone WARN you of the judgment that God will pass on all of us - Christian and non-Christian alike?
If it was a warning, then yeah, they did mean well even if you took it badly.

This judgement you claim originates with your imaginary friend actually comes from you and people like you. Christians use god's judgment as a front for their own agenda.
And should there be a judgment, I'd rather not be a christian. Screw your Homophobic, xenophobic, capricious, genocidal, infanticidal, repressive, slave driving god. I wouldn't even want to be on the same side of the line.
I reject your reality and substitute my own!

Of course.
Sounds like support to me.
(May 24, 2015 at 9:12 pm)Randy Carson Wrote: Quote:Do you still support those molesters?
It would be correct to say that I never did support them.
Yeah, no. You gave money to their organization.
(May 24, 2015 at 9:12 pm)Randy Carson Wrote: How old are you, Parker? You reason like a child. Let me show you how stupid your reasoning is.
I'm an American, and I am a supporter of the American military. It has a job to do defending freedom around the world, and I wish them success because no one else is going to do the dirty work that needs to be done to bring that freedom to those who don't have it.
But does that mean that if a few soldiers get out of line and massacre some civilians (My Lai) (Google it if you have to) that I am going to be supportive of them, also? Or if their commanding officers try to cover up the massacre, I'll support them, too? Of course not. Soldiers who commit war crimes should be punished. Officers and civilians involved in the cover-up need to be prosecuted, also. But I still support the VAST majority of our service men and women who serve their country honorably.
This comparison is inapt, because while your taxes are mandatory, your payments to this church which protects and covers up the misdeeds of those who prey upon children -- your payments -- are voluntary.
Now, tell me some more about how my reasoning is "stupid", dumbfuck.
You volunteered them your financial support, even after you knew that they covered up the most heinous of crimes.
I can understand your obvious anger, but you're directing it at the wrong person. Rather sling these unChristian insults at me, ought you not be raising unholy hell in your cathedrals? Ought you not be directing your anger at these fucking sleazeballs from whom you take your moral guidance?
Yeah, fuck off with your "childish reasoning" assessment. You don't have the insight to judge anyone's reasoning ... apparently not even your own.
(May 24, 2015 at 9:12 pm)Randy Carson Wrote: What percentage of Catholic priests have molested altar boys, Parker? Why am I even asking? You get your news from Reddit and Steven Colbert.
Yeah, no. I don't even own a TV, Nostradamus. I get my news from varied sources, not one stream; and I've never been on Reddit, ever.
So yeah, go fuck yourself.
(May 24, 2015 at 9:12 pm)Randy Carson Wrote: About 1%. Which is HALF - maybe a THIRD - of the percentage of teachers who abuse children in the public schools.
Again, rather than concern yourself with the filth in your own organization, you point at another one and cry, "But they do it too!"
Tell me more about my "childish reasoning", why don't you?
Do you realize how stupidly hypocritical you look slinging words like that around in a post with this in it?
The reason why we're not discussing pervert teachers is because this forum addresses views on atheism and theism, not pedagogy.

lol, condescension doesn't suit you. You're neither intelligent enough to wear it well, nor brutal enough to pull it off with elan. You're like that overweight guy wearing Speedos at the beach. a sad spectacle to everyone else as they watch him pondersouly jostle down the beach -- and perfectly unaware of the impression he gives.
And -- I'll let you know when I'm done with you. You ain't getting off that easy, Cupcake.

Although I'm 48 years old, I do indeed try to continue my education every day. Seems to me, Doc, that you ought to taste your own prescription.
Of course, that means broadening your mind beyond your faith. Are you brave enough to challenge your precepts?
I didn't think so.

When you pay in dollars, you should expect your change in dollars as well.
Only a dumbfuck expects a courteous reply to a rude comment.
If you don't like rudeness, you should probably reflect upon your own presentations.
Of course, that assumes you're able to ably employ self-reflection as a tool for improvement. I guess we'll have to see.

On top of the teacher and priest comparison, a teacher will be prosecuted and fired. A priest, however, gets his crimes swept under the rug and is sent to another parish that is unaware they are taking on a child molestor, so he's free to hunt again.
Keep filling those coffers, though!

... and never mind the fact, FNM, that a priest is supposedly the exemplar of the moral order the Church bequeaths us humans, as the intermediary of God.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Someone here is a clueless idiot. Giving money to an organization is not supporting them? Hell, his money paid to help move child-molesting priests from one place to another, to avoid prosecution.
I have to hand it to you, Parkers, you have really brought things to light with this. Too bad, though, that you are arguing with someone who has renounced reason entirely.

A warning? If a statement includes the words 'unless you do' this or that, it's a threat. Especially if the result of 'unless' is death and eternal torture. It matters very little if the threat is by proxy or not.
