You got it!
We see evidence of both strategies right here on the forum. If reality disagrees with religion, reality must be wrong.

From Answers in Genesis' infamous Statement of Faith:
Quote:By definition, no apparent, perceived or claimed evidence in any field, including history and chronology, can be valid if it contradicts the scriptural record. Of primary importance is the fact that evidence is always subject to interpretation by fallible people who do not possess all information.
Creationists are like tourists wandering around Tokyo with a map of the London Underground, insisting that it's the city that's wrong.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I wonder why that very statement doesn't also apply to people reading the bible?

The irony is so thick, it's turned into gold.

it shouldn't "creation vs. evolution". There are many creation stories. What creation story has the most data? There is no need to make it that kind of fight. The bible does not say how god made man. I forget the words, but it was something like "from the dust of the earth". That does not say how. evolution gives the theist a logical way their god did it without "magic". now list the traits of a person that believes in "poof there it is". No way are we changing that kind of stupid. But for the non literal theist, the bible doesn't say how god actually assembled man. Evolution is a logical process for the assembly.

Stimbo, I like this one:
"The great Flood of Genesis was an actual historic event, worldwide (global) in its extent and effect"

If one "creation" story should be taught in class, then they all should. How long have you got? That includes any I made up just now. There would be no time left for actual science in science class.
I think "religions have stories where stuff is made by magic" pretty much covers it, and even then has nothing to do with science.
