Atheists can be people no different from yourself; they might have grown up in similar environments, been taught the same things you were. The only difference is that you believe Christianity and they don't.

I'd eat spinach if I were hungry, or because I know that despite its taste, it is actually very good for my body. You keep mentioning the word "true atheist". If there is even such a thing, it would be a person who truly does not believe in any gods. Not believing in gods doesn't means you cannot be interested in religion; I know a few Religious Education teachers who don't believe in Gods yet find the subject of religion fascinating, hence their chosen career.

Atheists may have interests in non-atheistic things.
Scientists may have interests in non-scientific things.
Germans may have interests in non-German things.

Being part of a specific group does not mean you cannot be part of others. Life would be very boring if we only focused on one particular activity.

As an ANTI-Theist I dont even HATE religion. I may hate fundies that wanna push laws based on the text of an old fairy tail on everyone and styfle freedom. ex: the leader over in Africa that wants to make homosexuality a jailable offence and or death sentence...Or the morons who kill abortion clinic personel. But for the most part sence Christianity is rampant here in the US its the one religion I have the most knowledge about. I used to be one of the clueless masses that claimed to be a christian... then i actualy studdied it but unlike some, I reconized, as a RELIGION cherry picking good stuff is NOT an option and I will not bend over backwards and do mental gymnastics to make exscuses for a book CLEARLY written by man for man to control man......
