Children of the 1970's
#21
RE: Children of the 1970's
Born in '69; the 70s was my stomping ground. Doctor Who, the Goodies, they told the decade what shape it should be. Chopper bikes with their gearsticks and banana saddles. Cola cubes, fizz bombs, Spangles. Suzi Quatro and early onset romantic crushes; the Bay City Rollers if you were of the girl persuasion.

Queen. /thread

Alvin Stardust wanted you to be his coo ca choo. Gary Glitter wanted to know if you'd be in his gang, his gang, his gang (and whether you wanted to touch him 'there'). Jimmy Savile fixed it for kids, and they in turn fixed it for him (allegedly). The Muppets!

Orange and brown wallpaper with matching curtains. Record players with wood, or wood effect, cabinets; tape recorders made from actual metal. Playing outside until well after dark, in all weathers. Playing outside at all.

No cares, no responsibilities, no worries. That was my childhood. That was my 70s.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

69 is a good birth date, all the cool death metal grindcore people were born in 69 Tongue
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

It's a number I love to have on the tip of my tongue, that's for sure.

My mother wouldn't let us eat them because she believed the urban legend that they would explode in our stomach.  Dodgy

Born in 66, child of the 70s, of which I spent four years in Iran. I'm on my phone now but will clip and post some memories written into my book later.

There was a toy called Klick Klack in the early 70ies. I don't know if it made it's way across the pond, since it was a German inventing it. But it was considered dangerous by some. There has been a story making the round about a child killing herself with it. My mother didn't let me have it, although, much like mobiles nowadays, everybody had it.

For me the decade started with this and ended with slime, if anybody remembers this. Don't know if this made it's way to America either.
