Oh, don't get me wrong, I know the game you're trying to play.  It's an old one, and not very convincing at that.  I give my life purpose by doing what I can to leave the world a slightly better place in my wake.  I don't need a deity in my life to hold me at the precipice of hell to do good.  I'm neither an infant nor psychopath who needs the persistent hand of a father figure to guide my every action.

I have no need for gods, even if they did exist.

Thanks for sharing. I'm sure you are a very socially-beneficial human. From curiosity, why does your perceived need of God influence your interest in his existence?

Napoléon. Some people are curious how other people think. You can see my answers earlier in the thread.

God is a supernatural force evident through nature? So your definition assumes there already is evidence? That's called begging the question.

Couldn't be much more vague, either. What supernatural force? Any one at all? How we can possibly detect it if it is supernatural?

Robvalue,

My description was intended to specify an omnipotent-type god rather than a good/evil force-type of god. Obviously, if someone believed in a god, he would think there was evidence. Also, please slow down your conclusions. Simply using logical fallacy labels is not the most scholarly process. My original question was aimed at discovering your conception of god, so I intentionally asked a general question. Feel free to share.

What perceived need of god? What interest in its existence?

I really don't care what your background is as it isn't relevant to what you have to say.  I don't see how your future profession could have much to do with your motives. Though given you the reasoning skills you've displayed so far and your general understanding, I'd love to know who you are so I can avoid being your patient in future.  Sound's dangerous.

Don't forget: a few pages back he said he'd murder people if he didn't have his god telling him not to.

OP, I'm scared for your patients; I hope you don't lose your faith, honestly, and I don't say that to many people.

Sorry, maybe I was drawing false conclusions. You say that you don't need god so you don't care about his existence.

It's like this:

I don't know if a god actually exists.  There's no credible evidence for one, and I can't believe in the existence of something if there's nothing pointing to its existence.  Because I operate just fine without believing in a god, I obviously don't need a god to guide my thoughts or actions.  And since I'm perfectly independent and capable without a god, I don't spend much time thinking about it.  Indeed the only time I think about subject at all is when I debate theists here, or when theists act in harmful ways against society.  Beyond that, god(s) don't occupy my time.

I'm almost a full apathist.

They all did it. Starting with the first humans staring at the sun and the moon, not knowing what they are and calling them gods. So why should your assumption of one particular brand and one particular denomination of god carry any more weight than their's?
