Also, I am kidding. Just in case any idiot decides to take that seriously.

I'll take the money if LP doesn't want it.

It won't get you anything, but I'll still take it.

I don';t like the idea of a doctor being anti-vaccine, but that doesn't seem like a convenient way to end your own life. Obviously there will be cases of malpractice, people getting sick and dying from lack of proper treatment, and angry family members. The investigation is ongoing, but they looked at someone with a shotgun wound to the chest and decided probably suicide?

Shooting oneself through the heart is as good a way as any.

It is going to be Christmas for conspiracy nuts. There's a lot they can milk from this story. I'm just glad there's one less enemy to public health.

A rifle is a bit inconvenient, and I would think a head shot would be quicker than a shot to the heart. I'm just saying that if I found a guy killed by a shotgun to the chest, I wouldn't be too quick to judge it a suicide. Maybe he really did kill himself, but that wouldn't be my first guess.

They already are.  The idea that he was murdered has also reached my FB feed.

Maybe it's some real doctor's way of vaccinating america against his quackery.

Correct me if I'm wrong about this, but wasn't there a USian footballer who shot himself in the chest so his brain could be studied post mortem?

Not saying that gunshot to the chest is a common form of suicide, but it must happen sometimes.

Women typically shoot themselves in the chest (when they use a gun). Men usually shoot themselves in the head. There was indeed an NFL player who specifically avoided shooting himself in the head in the hope that his autopsy would help prove that he had suffered brain damage. I doubt this bonehead doctor had that kind of motivation.

You know what I think is interesting, as I've said before, is this labelling of "pro vaccination" and "anti vaccination". Yes the guy's a nut, and yes he holds an extreme view not supported by evidence - but - if you think vaccination is risk-free you're just as blind and extreme in your views. Here's an example. Note that: "National health authorities have ordered doctors to stop giving seasonal influenza vaccinations to children under five after dozens of serious reactions, including convulsions."

Health policies are not formulated to benefit individuals. Ever. They are formulated to benefit the broader community. The fact that some people will be disadvantaged by a particular policy is inconsequential to carrying it out. This is why water fluoridation is a controversial one. Fluoride is a micro-nutrient, like calcium or Vitamin A. But just like Vitamin A it has an upper-limit - that is to say if you inject too much it is toxic. What happens is you get Fluorosis and your teeth rot. The AI (Adequate Intake) for men is 4 mg/day, and for women is 3 mg/day (source). The UL (upper limit) for adults is 10.0 mg/day. Fluoridated Water contains approximately 1mg/L of Fluride (about 10x as much as bottled spring water).

You really have to think about your own health carefully, public policies aren't designed to help individuals.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke
