Obviously to promote Catholicism, it's what every group does - They promote what they stand for. I don't see the big deal. Do people think Catholics would make a video vilifying the Catholic church? It would be counter-productive, not to mention dumb. Regardless of the intention of the video, I agree with what people are saying - You can think what you want about marriage, and any other topic - It's basic freedom of thought.

Was catholicism even mentioned in the video?!? If so, I missed it. I certainly missed where they were promoting it. It seems to me it was targeted at a group of people who mistakenly believe the buy-bull defines marriage as one and one (when it clearly doesn't), thinks the gays are wrong and somehow think that the SCOTUS decision actually has some impact on their belief in what marriage is.

Well the website is called "catholicvote" so it seems obvious that their intent with any video they make is to promote catholicism. I'm not american but I think it's obvious something like legalizing gay marriage has many reactions - Pro and against. When France legalised gay marriage there was a rally against it the day after (and before). It's something we should expect in a pluralistic society. Dissent will inevitably exist.

I agree with Faith No More, that it is sad that they are trying to make it look like they are the victims.

As for the video Exian showed:

Jesus said, “I knew you before you were conceived, that means that babies are not meant to be aborted!” lol

“I pray this in Geeeeeezusss name, I pray this in Geeeeezzzuusss name.”

Maybe try praying to Vishnu next time because Geeeezzuuusss doesn’t give a fuck.

I agree completely that dissent will "inevitably exist." I'm not even arguing that their bigoted for holding their view on marriage, even the holding the idea that gay marriage is wrong. I do believe it's bigoted to force those beliefs on others through the law of the land though. Still, I'm not even arguing that. I'm arguing that the SCOTUS decision has no tangible affect on their marriages. Yet they're acting like butt-hurt school girls who got stood up by their date.

No one's saying they can't or shouldn't do it; we're just mocking them for it because they deserve it.

I think I can fairly understand their point - And IMO this is mostly a reaction to liberal circles labelling anyone who does not agree with them as a homophobe. You can't deny that happens since it does happen at some point and ad hominems are not rare (to be fair both conservatives and liberals use them as often). People's brains work differently - I'm interested in knowing why other people think differently than me, but I can't comprehend it scientifically so it's hard for me to judge them. I may be missing something but the only thing I understand is that they're saying they can hold the view gay marriage is wrong, which is obvious in Catholicism, it's a no-brainer - The pope is against gay marriage - It's not a surprise they're promoting their agenda, it's very predictable.

Victims how exactly? Nobody is taking away your little "Catholic marriage between a man and a woman". If you don't want to have a gay marriage, guess what, nobody is making you!!! oh my God! Who'da thunk it?!

Although I would say just to make him squirm, I would definitely ravage the guy in the dark patterned shirt, he's gorgeous. What a waste...

"oh I have gay friends" by this he either means an "ex-gay" deeply closeted sell-out and religious apologist (and Republican), or he means he kinda knew a gay person in his class at school once. Either way having a gay friend doesn't mean you can't be homophobic, in the same way a white person having a black friend doesn't mean they are above slipping up and saying racist shit.

On the positive side though, actually click to go onto the page of that youtube video and look at the number of dislikes it got and the comments. Times are chaging, for sure.
