The Lord isn't going to intervene in most cases. Due to our knowledge and the acquisition there of we must learn and make conscious effort to change our being as a whole. Just because evil is a stronger will in few that doesn't mean there is no God. Indeed there is evil. And no, evil isn't Universal. It is in us do to our free will. We were given the knowledge of evil without the Lord's consent for our own good. We must find our way back to the righteous. Just because there is a God and he gave us the opportunity for greatness doesn't mean we are inherently great. We must work for it through good.

As it was explained to me when mom tried to make "Raiders of the Lost Ark" into a teaching experience (I know... [Image: free-rolleye-smileys-323.gif]), gawd struck him down for disobedience. Apparently gawd gets really huffy when he's disobeyed, even with the best of intentions.

Not really benevolent then, I'd say more childish...

Like I said, it is OK to rape and kill, but do not touch the ark.  What a misanthrope.

http://biblehub.com/genesis/22.htm

You are supposed to have blind obedience to God's commands, no matter what they are.  You are not supposed to be thinking for yourself and doing what you think best; you are supposed to just do as you are told.  No matter how capricious, evil, perverted, insane the command may be, you are supposed to obey the command no matter what.
No command from the Lord will ever be for anything other than the best. This is known through Faith first, then it is shown to you. People keep going back to this Abraham, Isaac thing all wrong. It is a testimony of Faith and that is all. Did he kill his son because God ordered? No. Did he kill his son at all? No. It is an example of faith and that is all.

God commanded rape and murder and had the Israelites go through with it, according to the Bible. Do you need me to find Bible verses for you, or do you have some familiarity with the Bible?

Just where I could find the verses would be sufficient.

Apparently not, as you can't recognize sarcasm.

Can you imagine the reaction of the imaginary friend if the ark had fallen over and been damaged?

How many would it have slaughtered.

Likely the whole world, or at least a couple cities. He seems to like the whole "go big or go home" thing.

Murder and rape

Numbers 31

Deuteronomy 20:10-14

Rape

Deuteronomy 21:10-14

Murder

Numbers 21

1 Samuel 15

That is more than enough, but there is more.  Really, the Israelites, as described in the Bible, are very much like ISIS today.

Angel: Sir, the Germans are committing genocide against the Jews and desire world domination!
God: ...meh.
Angel 2: Sir, they found your magic box and are opening it!
God: Melt their faces. All of them.
Angel: Sir! It turns out that simply looking away nullifies your attack!
God: Jesus Christ!
Jesus: Yeah, Dad/Me?
God:I wasn't talking to you.
Jesus: But-
God: Shut the fuck up! Johnson! Did anyone's face melt?
Angel: Yes, sir. Quite spectacularly, too
God: Good enough. ...I'm getting too old for this shit. The Jews are one thing, but no one touches my shit and gets away with it. Especially when it's where I stash my weed.

Sounds like a legitimately capable and loving deity to me.
