Why Did Uzzah Die For Touching the Ark?

As it was explained to me when mom tried to make "Raiders of the Lost Ark" into a teaching experience (I know... ), gawd struck him down for disobedience. Apparently gawd gets really huffy when he's disobeyed, even with the best of intentions.

Like I said, it is OK to rape and kill, but do not touch the ark. What a misanthrope.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

Just where I could find the verses would be sufficient.

Angel 2: Sir, they found your magic box and are opening it! God: Melt their faces. All of them. Angel: Sir! It turns out that simply looking away nullifies your attack! God: Jesus Christ! Jesus: Yeah, Dad/Me? God:I wasn't talking to you. Jesus: But- God: Shut the fuck up! Johnson! Did anyone's face melt? Angel: Yes, sir. Quite spectacularly, too God: Good enough. ...I'm getting too old for this shit. The Jews are one thing, but no one touches my shit and gets away with it. Especially when it's where I stash my weed.
