Wink)

But if one wants to read about the specifics of what people were afraid of, here are a couple of articles:

my main question with this is why christians are freaking out about this and why they think there is a big conspiracy involving CERN, Sept 23/24 and the rapture and the blood moon... im pretty sure I answered my own question with saying conspiracy theory and basically people looking for meaning hard enough and making connections with stuff that would otherwise not mean anything...

There's a big part of the evangelical wing that believes in conspiracy theories.  The blood moon thing you mentioned makes me think that the idiots you encountered believe John Hagee's bullshit about four blood moons in a year.

Beyond that, you need to remember that the devoutly religious are fearful of science, even though they don't understand any of it, and perpetually believe we're in the End Times.  Add it all up, and you have idiocy stew.

It's pathetically self-defeating when you consider that rapture retards should be welcoming the end of the world. In fact, they should be on the front lines of making it happen.

They should Stim, but ironically, just having the scientific knowledge to create a Large collider would nullify the reason for creating it in the first place!

A reverse Dunning-Kruger. Well played, sirrah.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Doomed, I say.

I have just found the missing Dark Matter!!1!

What is it?   Christianity? Islam?  Neither contains any substance, and yet exert a pressure proportional to the number of adherents.   sounds like strong candidates for the dark matter to me

Guess again...

Ahh, that would be dark energy, my bad.

Dark matter must be the bible or Koran, then, since they give no illumination, are susceptible to no illumination, and yet reveal their presence by the pull they exert on the confused and delusional.
