Not alone, necessarily, but alone sometimes makes people better. For example: I was a music major in college. Getting it right on my own was important to make my performance for others better.

What do the theists here think about masturbation and porn?

Quote: I am familiar with Humanae Vitae. This phrase just means that contraception is not moral. I don't know how old you are but that "intrinsic relationship to the procreation of human life" does not mean vibrators and blow jobs. Those are apparently only acceptable inside the rectory or convent. RE: What do the theists here think about masturbation and porn?

You are correct. Since every sex act has to be "ordered to procreation" (not to be confused with intending procreation), the man should always try to finish inside his wife. Of course, if it happens outside by accident, it's not a problem. (July 10, 2015 at 11:21 pm)Minimalist Wrote:Quote: I am familiar with Humanae Vitae. There are no "restrictions" on what we can and cannot do (and use) during foreplay leading up to intercourse. Vibrators are not against Church teaching.

Mary had a dildo? http://www.cliffsnotes.com/literature/s/...-sexuality Quote:Nonetheless, it is Augustine's negative views about sexuality that predominate. In her book Adam, Eve, and the Serpent, the religious scholar Elaine Pagels is critical of Augustine's equation of sex with original sin, identifying Augustine as a source of Western society's negative attitudes about sexuality. Whether Augustine is directly responsible for the traditions that came down to history or simply articulated the prevailing viewpoint is open to debate. However, Augustine clearly had a significant influence in shaping Western ideas about sexuality. And as far as your boy, Paul VI goes.... Quote:To Pope Paul VI, as with of all his predecessors, marital relations are much more than a union of two people. They constitute a union of the loving couple with a loving God, in which the two persons create a new person materially, while God completes the creation by adding the soul. For this reason, Paul VI teaches in the first sentence of Humanae vitae, that the transmission of human life is a most serious role in which married people collaborate freely and responsibly with God the Creator.[10] This is divine partnership, so Paul VI does not allow for arbitrary human decisions, which may limit divine providence. According to Paul VI, marital relations are a source of great joy, but also of difficulties and hardships.[10] The question of human procreation, exceeds in the view of Paul VI specific disciplines such as biology, psychology, demography or sociology.[11] According to Paul VI, married love takes its origin from God, who is love, and from this basic dignity, he defines his position: For a guy who was supposed to be celibate ( wink, wink ) he sure was interested in the subject! Hum, so...
If the only time the male "should" ejaculate is inside his wife and without contraception (am I understanding Catholicism?) then there is a significant risk of pregnancy every single time (assuming both are fertile of course). This leaves the following scenarios: 1- The man gets to ejaculate only a few times in his whole life, which has dangerous side effects. I assume CL and her husband can't have had sex many times without resulting in children... I'm not expecting an answer! 2- You have a fuck ton of children. 3- Lots of lies between spouses about the level of masturbation going on in private. 4- Getting around these rules on technicalities, in which case you may as well not have them. Please correct me if I'm wrong. All of these seem very bad scenarios and have moral issues of their own. Feel free to send me a private message.
