For the record, the Catholic Church does not prohibit tattoos.

In that case, what is the point in getting one?

I certainly do. I was worried about the propriety of my full-back tattoo of an altar boy getting buggered.

Perfectly correct. I've even had a local priest compliment me on my harp tattoo.

No worries.
As long as your tattoo was done in good taste, of course, it could actually come in handy since what your tattoo depicts has involved such a tiny fraction of the total Catholic population in real life that most people would have had no exposure to this whatsoever beyond what they read in Internet forums or heard from the largely anti-Christian press.

Don't worry. It depicts an Orthodox priest, the dirty heretic.
