Same here. I thought they were real for about a year, and then I started looking more into them and I realised that none of their references existed (i.e there is no "Fellowship University" with degree courses or professors listed on the site).

Two atheists are behind Landover Baptist. They regularly speak at atheist conferences, apparently in their guise as "pastors". They made the Objective Ministries website so they could make a parody of a Christian website objecting to Landover Baptist (since everyone had pretty much worked out that Landover Baptist was a parody). Worked very well!

Here is clear evidence of parody in action... and a poor atheist (character) falling for it. From their forums... posted by LostLittleDemon (Unsaved Trash/Teenage Potty Mouth):

Okay, so what are your thoughts of women in the military, since I'm in the Air Force? I'm just wondering, I'm not trying to attack you guys, I'm trying to understand why people would do that! Where is the Westboro Baptist Church? and do they have other churches doing the same thing??? because it certianly wasn't the westboro church that did this at my brother in law's funeral! Please, Help me understand, Reverend!!!

One way to tell the difference is to note that the "real" sites have prominent Donation buttons whereas the parodies do not.

Religion is, first and foremost, about money.

QFT, as long as I can edit it to fit my preconceived notions.

I was merely quoting the relevant bits. I agree superstition is a waste of time. The threat of damnation is a red herring. It was always an anti Christ notion, so belongs to the anti God brigade.
