I don't think so...

I've been paying particular attention to how often Islam comes up, and I'm not counting the times Christianity get's brought up when having a discussion with me... since it would make sense that it would.

Is it only an issue when muslims do it?   Wink

(the thought process behind your posts in this matter are why I'm so critical of christianity, btw....makes for a great example)

If you look at the history of Islam Christianity, there has always been non stop blood shed. Non stop and still going strong today, in the 21st century. They even have a word for it - Jihad Crusade.

Btw, I have nothing against Muslims Christians and one of my best friends is one. But if I was going to bash a particular religion for doing horrible things, the first one to come to mind would be Islam Christianity and the first thing to pop into my head would be Isis the Catholic Church, because of everything I have already explained. So it just seems strange fitting that you guys hardly bring any of that up, since you bash religion all the time. That's all I'm saying.

There, I fixed it for you.

Lol, the Crusades happened a thousand years ago. That's the point.

Jihad is an ongoing word they use to describe the war killing of non Muslims.

Ah, ok. That explains it all. Thanks for the discussion. Tongue

Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. Yeah, and I guess you didn't hear Bush using the word in his war on terror speeches.

Lol, come on Abaris. Be reasonable. Bush isn't any sort of religious leader, and his motives for going into war (flawed as they were) were not religious!

You can't claim what Bush did as "Christian terrorism" or anything even remotely having to do with Christianity or religion.

EDIT TO ADD: The Catholic Pope at the time, John Paul II, actually advised him NOT to start that war.

CL, I detest the Abrahamic faiths equally. Your particular faith just got housebroken earlier than Islam (though there are still "accidents" -- aren't there?).

Yes, he was.  That's what candidates spend so much time pandering to religion to demonstrate.  His motives?  He said god told him to, spoke to him about it, he'd prayed on it, you see.  Heaven forbid that he be talking out of his ass in the usual christer way, eh? Religious organizations and religious people -very often- use the blanket of their faiths in order to cover for doing things that have little to do with their religion, though..that I'll grant you.  This is part of the utility of religion and religious organizations which has helped them to last so long.

Again I have to ask, if you're so quick to excuse one group...whats with the fetish against the other?

The explanation for that has already been given, which you have seen, because you quoted it:

Most of the folks here come from christianized countries, so when they think of gods, they think of the christian gods.  We get the odd member from an islamic country, and they're predictably focused on allah.  That's all there really is to that.

...

Since most of the people coming to preach to us seem to be Christians, we talk about Christianity more than Islam.  Since most of the active people posting here seem to come from countries where Christianity is the biggest religion, we talk about Christianity more than Islam.

There is no conspiracy or anything like that.  You can see that when some Muslims come to preach here, they get the same sort of treatment as the Christian preachers.  Their silly ideas are treated with disdain and contempt, just like the silly Christian ideas.  If we had Hindu preachers here, I expect we would see their silly views treated in much the same way.  But if they do not come here, then we are not going to talk about their silly ideas so much.
