I think it's cute that regurgitating claims is considered evidence.

Does that mean if I can't prove you to be a liar or hallucinating I must believe that you were?
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

I think it hinges on, or relates to, the "teach the controversy" canard. Basically I set out my claims, you set out yours, then whoever gains the popular vote wins.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
I have a garage that's empty. That proves the existence of my Ferrari.

Besides, if it had been written in the 4th Century the centuries of temperature and humidity fluctuations would have destroyed the vellum. It's a fake!!And you know this better than those who have studied the actual document because....? Look at the characters. They are written in the modern Greek alphabet. You can easily verify it for yourself. Check out Ancient Scripts: Greek. And as I said, the vellum would have deteriorated because of the changes in temperatures and humidity over the past 14 to 16 centuries. "Preservation[edit] True vellum is typically stored in a stable environment with constant temperature and 30% (± 5%) relative humidity. If vellum is stored in an environment with less than 11% relative humidity, it becomes fragile, brittle, and susceptible to mechanical stresses; if it is stored in an environment with greater than 40% relative humidity, it becomes vulnerable to gelation and to mold or fungus growth.[11] The optimal temperature for the preservation of vellum is 20 ± 1.5 °C (68 ± 2.7 °F).[citation needed]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vellum RE: Evidence: The Gathering

Randy: You have been throwing the word "fact" about quite a bit regarding things we can supposedly learn from the bible. Surely this means that such evidence would be acceptable to put you down for murder, if it is a fact?
Even for things you wouldn't say are facts, you're admitting us atheists have no reason to believe the supernatural stuff happened beyond reasonable doubt? And considering we're talking about supernatural stuff, what is reasonable doubt is much bigger in scope. At least it should be, for anyone interested in the truth. I agree, historical study often does not put things beyond reasonable doubt. But that's not the message I've been getting from you, and joining a religion seems to be putting a lot more than historical probability into action. Feel free to send me a private message.

The characters?... hmmm From the wiki, an excerpt of the codex: And here are other examples of greek writing around that time: They all look greek to me... And, about the vellum, " Lacking from it are most of the book of Genesis, Hebrews 9:14 to the end, the Pastoral Epistles, and the book of Revelation; these parts were lost by damage to the front and back of the volume, which is common in ancient manuscripts. " (in http://www.bible-researcher.com/codex-b.html).... and also... this is interesting... " The original 20 leaves containing Genesis 1:1–46:28a (31 leaves) and Psalm 105:27–137:6b have been lost and were replaced by pages transcribed by a later hand in the 15th century.[9] 2 Kings 2:5–7, 10-13 are also lost because of a tear to one of the pages." (in the wiki) Could it be that you have seen these later transcribed leaves? |
