3. Cherry pick and metaphoricize scripture until you distort it enough that it suits your own agenda.

Islam is a form of Christianity, same god. Jesus is actually mentioned more than Mohammed in the Qur'an

Also i think islam extremists are more comparable to Christian crusades

RE: Christianity and Islam, hand in hand extremism
Islam and Christianity are the exact same culture. If you look at the Christian theocracies of Medieval Europe, all of the exact same themes as modern Saudi Arabia and Iran occur; Patriarchal society with austere treatment of women, herecy and blasphemy laws with gory executions, persecution of gays and minority religions, a lifestyle that has to revolve entirely around the religion at all times, extreme sexual repression, it's all the exact same stuff. It's frighteningly similar.

That's why I can't deal when Christians talk about Islam like it is so much worse. It's only worse today. The modern human rights and liberal standards of the Western world do not come from Christianity (which some Christians love to tell you they do). They've formed over centuries of enlightenment and a gradual pealing back of the Christian Church's political power. What you see in the Middle East with Islam today is exactly what Christianity used to be in Europe, and what it would be again given political power.

And these Muslim apologists, the Non-Muslim Westerners who defend Islam at any costs, are un-doing those centuries of stripping away Christianity in Europe by giving Islam a foothold to take us back there.

Oh, how I would love to visit the state capitol building and shout my blasphemy for all to hear. Then sue the righteous fuck out of 'em if they try to enforce such a bullshit law.

All very good points, however I tend to think of modern christianity as being a branch of Islam, the reason being that when modern christianity was formally founded by rome in 325 the religious leaders who were charged by emperor Constantine to select and compile pre-existing texts that would become the bible and thereby inventing the entire religion then and there, had noted the tactics used by islam to spread itself virulently and incorporated or worte and added texts that empowered them to use the same tactics.

As a result the two religions are identical in their foundations and most notably in their beliefs toward human sexuality. The reason is that there is simply a small percentage of the population (less than ten percent I'm sure) that become intensely, even insanely jealous at the thought of someone else having sex, since this small minority is also inherently more aggressive and often to an incredible level, empowering their petty jealousies by calling such jealousy holy and godlike the church inspires such people to not only support the religion, but to spread it, and thus the empowerment of their own ego's, with feverish intensity and extreme violence. Thus the most violent people in society, alpha males and females although alpha males are more common, fight ferociously to spread the ideology that serves their ego's and thus at the same time the greed and lust for power of the religious leaders.

On an interesting side note, the muslims that modern christians exalt as moderate are those such as the saudi arabians who still behead atheists and accused homosexuals by law for setting foot in their country, but are considered moderate for no longer beheading christians on sight (how kind of them). And or own president Obama, who I am now ashamed of having voted for in '08, bows to the king of this so-called moderate regime.

I think they are very similar.

1) Same God

2) Some Demi-God character in human form

3) Might makes right mentality

4) Huge bigotry (sexism, homophobia, divisiveness)

5) Righteous justification of horrific acts

6) Pretends to be about peace and love while fear/violence are the tools by which it is spread

7) God loses to secular laws

Oil.

That said, I respectfully disagree with the idea of Christianity being an offshoot of Islam, as it predates Islam. I just think the only reason Christianity is now feeding the homeless instead of burning people alive is because of a 500 year political struggle to strip it of it's power, which we've now won. Give them back that power though, they'd do it again, sure. The biggest difference I can see between Medieval Europe and Modern Saudi Arabia is that the Europeans loved using fire while the Saudis are kinky fuckers and love the whip.

You're talking about the council of Nicea, but christianity only became state religion in 385 with emperor Theodosius. Nicea was the big Constantinian butt kissing contest when all what early christians held dear was thrown overboard to suck up to the emperor. But it wasn't the final word. Not by a long chalk.

You are aware that virtually every president in history kissed Saudi ass? Because they're what I like to call good bastards. As long as they play American ball and deliver the goods they will be cocksucked for all eternity by every administration to come.

All true, and far more concise than I usually write.
