Its very tempting, I have to say.
If was going to join a christian forum it would have to be a fundie one. No fun otherwise.
Can anyone recommend a suitably batshit crazy forum for me to join?

Since Loki_999 got banned for pretty much nothing on http://www.christianforums.com. They seem to be pretty insane and I have read a few of their topics. You could try that out even though the risk is big to get banned.
Or perhaps http://www.christianforums.net/, they seem to tolerate a little bit more. I will try to find a few more.

Well, if you follow the rules then you'll be ok. The problem is non-Christians are very limited in what they are actually allowed to do. Its one rule for Christians, another for religious non-Christians, and another for atheists.
Basically you are not allowed to post in a vast majority of the forums if you are not a Christian, and those are usually where the interesting discussions are going on. Also you have to be very careful is actually saying anything that conflicts with their world view otherwise you get a "Consultation".
Overall the forums are very sickly to read and quite often follow the following pattern...
I have a question about X / OR / I'm having trouble understanding why X / OR / I'm having problems with my faith
Post #2
Jesus loves you
Post #3
I am praying for you
Post #4
The bible has all the answers. See Book N Chapter N Verse N where it is explained.
You don't need to question, just have faith.
Jesus loves you
Post #7
Jesus loves you
etc....
You get the idea. Not an original thought in their heads. Actually the only reasonable conversation I had there was with someone a bit fundie i think who was anti-abortion. They actually made some good arguments and were willing to have a nice discussion with me... until the mods deleted my posts because I was an atheist posting in a "Christian Only" place. Grrrr.....
Censorship at its finest. The internet is meant to be a great forum for the freedom of speech and they do everything possible to ensure their members are not subjected to conflicting views. Its perhaps why the best way to discuss things with theists is in real life. At least then nobody can ban you or delete your sentences.

Talk about discrimination and oppression. Total lack of fairness.
Though it is expected, especially with those nut jobs.
I was being told to leave a certain christian forum. It was because I was an atheist. I didn't leave right away, I made a few points about their beliefs and then attacked them for their oppressive attitude towards me. Jesus freaks.

I've checked out a number of christian forums since my last post here. They fall into 2 groups:
1. Forums which only allow christians, period. On joining, you have to agree to a statement of christian faith. No room for atheists or other non-christians at all.
2. Forums which very severely restrict non-christian speech. Loki has already described in detail how these work.
Neither of these options has much appeal. Join->get banned->get my posts deleted-> what a waste of time.
What I haven't been able to find is anything like a christian equivalent of this forum. I strongly suspect that no such thing exists. If anyone comes across one, though, I'd be interested.

Wouldn't it work like someone else suggested? Pretend to be a christian but with an "atheist friend". My friend is trying to convert me to the dark side blablabla, "these are the points he refers to and when he says this some points in the bible does not make any sense explain please. Christians reply to the thread and you have a discussion up. Or would they quite easily detect this disguise?

There is an old observation that "in order to lie convincingly you must know the truth." In this case the "truth" would be the fundie world view and they are far more practiced at it than you. You might make some initial headway with a plea, like, " his arguments against the inerrancy of the bible are causing me to doubt my faith."
Eventually, though, they will get tired of it because those sites exist for them to reinforce their delusions. They'd ban you rather than have to deal with questions they don't want to deal with.

Thanks for the suggestions. Both look interesting. Ship of Fools looks very interesting- its pretty lively, friendly too, and most importantly they seem to encourage debate there. I may well join.

You know there was rules specifically for theists when I first got on here. Mostly guidlines to prevent the same circle of fundie spam, but a set of rules all our own none the less. Adrian said he's gotten rid of them and I think very little changed, so they must have been pretty easy to follow if you're not a nut job.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post
