Another man looking for truth

RE: Another man looking for truth
Shining Serpent: You are conflating atheism with other positions such as philosophical naturalism (the belief that the natural world is all there is). Even atheists who are also sceptics, which is not all of them, tend to be methodological naturalists who don't rule out the possibility of the supernatural. Atheism is simply the lack of a belief in gods, that is it. Atheists are welcome to believe whatever other bizzare-o stuff they like including afterlives, ghosts, spirits, inner energy, whimsical pixies, whatever. It would help if you would refer to the group of people you actually mean rather than assuming all atheists think the same.

Here's some links to my website:

What atheism is not (necessarily)

I have 2 possible responses to this. I can't decide which is best so I'll make you the observer who resolves the quantum event:

1. Sorry, I forgot 'morbid introspection' Angel

2. So 'straight-talking' and what else?

Once you've made your selection, the other option will only exist in potentia in this universe and arguably as the reality in an/other universe/s.
Remember the butterfly effect and pick carefully, your choice might have major repercussions.

There are a lot of reasons why I came here... well, I am sick and tired of people blinded by religious indoctrination. Religion has become one of the best type of manipulating humans over the thousands years. I hope this forum is gonna be a good community to discuss everything related to being and existence.

What are my religious beliefs?
As a child I was growing up in Catholic society. It seems like Catholicism is a part of Polish tradition. A lot of people in my country consider themselves as a firm Catholic believers, but I'm not sure if they really are. I know how it works. Indoctrination starts from parents and school. But when you realize that your parents are not the best role models, you start to be more open-minded. I admit it, I believed in all of that. Then I turned to Atheism when I was about 10 years old and I believed only in science.

Who am I now?
I consider myself as nobody, just a simple man looking for truth. You can call me agnostic, you can call me atheist or something else.
I believe in nature, physical law and power of the human spirit. There's no gods, they're just some imaginary friends of religious zombies.
If there's something 'higher', it doesn't control the world. There's nothing like destiny. What is the destiny of a child raped and killed just after its birth?
Existence surely came from something. We are different. Some people are good, some people are bad. We are the creations of Mother Nature.
Nature is almighty and omnipresent as well. It's hard to understand the human mind, but at least at this point we should turn to science.

Faith is ruinous, as well as its dearth.

Humans have a natural need for a higher meaning. Which they believe they can find in Christianity or other "religions".
Christianity doesn't suffice. Jehovah cannot even make it's presence known. It's just a total crock of shit.
You, yourself have showed this search for higher meaning in your own post "Another man looking for the Truth".
I noticed, Atheism is taking this higher meaning and destroying it to an extreme of living a purposeless, miserable life, disregarding all spirituality with the abusing of the word "science".
The belief that you are nothing after physical death is indeed, miserable. More importantly it's not true.

Our search for higher meaning was never answered because our current "answers" are just not true. That's why so many people are confused.
Even an atheist has no freaking idea of the meaning of life he just lives a purposeless, materialistic life, full of absolute nothing. Which is not true. Life is full of meaning and beauty.
Humans would be much happier with the understanding that they are not just mechanic, physical robots. And that they are actually advanced spiritual beings.
Would'nt it be more accurate to say we don't know.
Forgive me, but I can't differentiate your woo from all the other religious horseshit...
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.

One just needs to look at the Bible and figure out who's the real "Murderer and Liar from the beginning".
Just who is the real "Deceiver" of the nations? It's all backwards. The honest will see.

Welcome.

Yes, it seems to be one of the last European bations of undiluted catholic woo. I come from a country where many highly educated polish people slave away as cleaners or handymen and I'm always amazed at how religious they seem to be.
