Oh, You Talk to God, That’s Cool! I Need Some Answers
#41
RE: Oh, You Talk to God, That’s Cool! I Need Some Answers
Quote: What makes you think God has to speak to you the way He speaks to me? God gives us exactly what we need to start and maintain our faith. Why would He approach you with what I need, or what someone else needs? unless you are the exact same person? No what we must do is learn who God is by Asking and Seeking, and over time (knocking) will be able to identify God in our daily lives.

The first sentence seems like you’re just squirming to give me an answer that isn’t all that logical. I said I haven’t seen evidence for a god after thinking I was seeking/having a relationship with him my whole life. So, after doing this for about 20 years of my life, god doesn’t want to have a relationship, screw him. What else am I supposed to do? Waste the rest of my life seeking something that is most likely not there?. I’m tired of hearing the same arguments. Humans beings do have the same needs. They need food, water, oxygen, etc. And, your sentence 3 doesn't make sense for a loving god, and prove all of your claims that are similar to your last sentence as well.

Quote:The why is nothing more than a confirmation bias at work, as your example shows. You don't want to worship therefore you seek a reason.

Confirmation bias? This relationship that you think that you have that takes place in your mind, that makes you feel so good, is confirmation bias for your religion. Many people have this type of “relationship” by just being spiritual, and not religious. That’s their confirmation bias for their beliefs. Who’s right? I’m sure you are of course.. Prove your god, or stop with the accusations that I don’t want to believe in him. Again, many people don’t want to worship the god of christianity, because they don’t believe in it, not because they don’t want to believe in it. You constantly fail to give us a good reason why your god is the true one, and that’s why there is so much debate in the world. And, you, not being able to give a straight answer to a question about many verses in the bible, gives us more reason to not believe in it. Everyone in their own religion thinks that they’re right. In many religions, people believe that they will go to hell if they abandon their religion, would you want to do that? Probably not. Let’s say, you look at the religion of islam, and find out you’re going go to hell in islam, are you going to want to risk going to hell in christianity to convert to islam? No, you stay with your religion (the one your comfortable with), you think it’s the correct one, and you tell everyone else to seek god, while no god shows up. Also, let’s say, 500 years down the road, 5-10% of the planet identifies as a christian, is god still going to let people go to hell by not telling the beings he loves so much that they’re going to hell, because the religion seems like what paganism looks like today? Could you give me a straight answer for that already? Do you seriously think christianity is going to last as long as human beings on this planet (assuming a massive meteor doesn’t hit us in a few hundred years)? Here’s my prediction: it’ll continue to evolve, and it will die out, just like all the others before it. This is sort of cool to look at, as you watch religion evolving over time, as man decides to change it as he pleases. Each of these has things borrowed from previous religions before it, some with more drastic changes than others.  http://thumbnails-visually.netdna-ssl.co...1c43f2.jpg

Quote:Let's say you ask God for the Holy Spirit as Luke 11 states. Then you receive Him and start to exhibit signs of the Spirit/Fruit. To which you are faith and later exhibit Spiritual gifts. Abilities far beyond your own efforts to manifest them. for a list google spiritual gifts and Fruit of the Spirit.

Let’s say he doesn’t answer you, then what? Let’s say you think he does, is your confirmation bias to your extremely vague definition of spirit/fruit going to change to whatever you want it to? Let’s say by the vague definitions of the bible, that some of these do occur, does that mean that you’re in contact with god because it says so in the bible? No.

Quote:wiki says they have no such page with that specific title.
Besides you specific mentioned Islam and Judism. Before you red herring in some exception clause you need to concede that the two religions you mentioned do not offer a relationship between the average believer and their God.

First of all, give me the exact area where I specifically mentioned judaism and islam having mentioned they talk to god or have prayers answer by them. As far as I know, I said what about people that pray while in another religion, how come their prayers get answered? Then you came back with a link to an islam website.. post #36 (8th quote on post #36).

Here is a quote of yours that I meant to include with my, “this should cover some of your other responses as well.”

Quote:Your confused about other religions. Christianity is the only one that offers communication with God. The other are told not to expect to hear from Him till the after life unless you are a prophet or some high ranking member of that religion.

I, then, gave you a link to Wiki. If you can’t view it, go to wiki and type in “prayer” You’ll see that in a story in Germanic Paganism, there was communication with god through prayer, and the prayer was answered. So, how about you admit that you’re wrong about christianity being the only religion that offers communication to god, and I’ll happily do so if you point me to the area where I specifically mentioned islam and judaism and how those religions specifically get their things they ask for through prayer/communication to god?

Quote:Quote:
You’d think you’d see christians massacring other religions because of their god telling them to do so, if your book was true, which would lead to one religion.

Show me book chapter and verse where God commands that Christians kill anyone. If you can't know that is not a mandate of God or the religion.

I didn’t say that. I said by using that logic, of how god commands Moses to start massacres on other tribes of people for worshipping other gods, you’d think if that was true, that that would be happening today. God only needed it done a few times? You don’t see the other religions out there that must be offending him greatly now, how come he is doing nothing about it? (Another logical question that deserves a straight answer)

Quote:So by my definition (which includes an AIDS and A Cancer diagnosis, and subsequent withdrawal of said diagnosis, a couple patents, thriving business that now branches into several different fields, and a ton of other stuff/experiences that I have shared here as well) you have experienced these things too with out God? that's great, but what about direct communication? wouldn't that be considered a mirical as well? After all in Luke 11 you are A/S/K for the Holy spirit a gift Christ promises to anyone who does these things.. How can one receive the Holy Spirit and not be in direct communication with God?

I’ve seen stories where people have been cured of HIV or AIDS, and definitely cancer, so how is that not confirmation bias towards your religion? How does that prove that your god did that, and that your body didn’t have anything to do with fighting those things? Patents…? Christians only come up with patents? A thriving business…? Christians only come up with thriving businesses? If that’s not confirmation bias, that your god has done those things, then I don’t know what is.

Quote: I love it when you guys identify a 'dodge' as a sound biblically based answer that seamlessly combines the culture of that time what the bible actually says with out changing a word, and good olde fashion common sense as a 'dodge.'

ROFLOL Do you know why I like that so much? because it means you don't have any way of responding to the answer that you thought would stump me, other than a very vain attempt at a broad brush dismissal that does not speak to any of the points I brought up.

Quote:look at the bold sport, to be considered 'unclean' was a trip away from the riggors of OT jewish life. It was not a punishment it was a break from what amounts to a harsh life of service to the family for a woman. The above does answer your question you just can't admit it. Your mind will not allow you to get past a lable you empower with a negative tag. I have identified that tag as being misreprsenitive of the meaning of that term.

"It was not a punishment it was a break from what amounts to a harsh life of service to the family for a woman." WOW..bullshit meter going through the roof! Thanks for that laugh.

Ah, yes. The classic Drich demeaning “sport” and laughter emoticons come out when he can’t give straight answers, those are always entertaining. Again, why does god consider a woman spiritually unclean after she gives birth? I’m sure you think god created her to do that. You think commands from god in the bible like, be fruitful in multiply, should be given negative stipulations like that? Yes, be fruitful and multiply, but you will be spiritually unclean for a week or two depending on whether you have a boy or girl or not. MAKES PERFECT SENSE!! Especially, when many christians consider a birth of a child to be a miraculous event, or such a great gift from god. But, somehow it’s important that god tell moses that everyone should know this. Why? And, I’d ask why to slavery, misogyny and all the other garbage, but I know I won’t get straight answers to that either..
Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' -Isaac Asimov-
