How do people justify the worship of Yahweh?

I totally agree. I think we could write a book nearly as big as the bible about moral objections to Christianity.

I think the biggest motivating factor for religion is fear. Fear of hell, fear of death, fear of uncertainty, fear of man being the final arbiter, and fear of rejection by family and society.

Just that last one alone, coupled with the fact that people seem to have a tendency to "go with the flow", appears to be enough to keep people lapping up the bullshit. Of course the most popular locally worshipped God is the true God. Why else would everyone worship it?

Considering the New Testament is only a very small part of the whole bible, isn't it strange how Jesus gets talked about probably 90% of the time as opposed to the good old angry firebolt-up-the-ass God? I'm sure some people see Jesus as God 2.0 and just tune out the OT.

In antiquity yhwh was the common enough sort of god  who had to be propitiated with sacrifices and shit because if he got pissed he might do something awful.   Conveniently the priests had a whole book of nasty shit that he'd done in the past when people got uppity.

The Bible will truly be the undoing of Christianity, and in that sense perhaps Judaism and Islam as well.

I agree there also. It's becoming more and more of an embarrassment. They can't get away with changing it anymore, they can't stop everyone being able to study it in detail over the internet, and it still says the horrible shit that passed for moral 2000 years ago.

Christianity's best move is to try and downplay the bible in my opinion. Same with the Quran. The Torah I haven't studied yet.
