So do you mean, instead of this get-together or as well or what? Somehow I don't think everyone's going to be up for it, but could be wrong.

Well, I was just saying that I was going anyway.  And it would be a pretty cool place to meet up, but yes, not everyone is quite nerdy enough to appreciate that kind of event.

And yay for Odo Big Grin

Truth be told I'm not either  Wink My friend is part of this group that does charity stalls at these events, for Macmillan Cancer Support, and I just go along to help out so I don't get to mingle that often. I'm not that much of a Trekkie really. They know every line of every episode but to me it's just a pretty good programme but that's all (sorry if that's sacrilegious Wink. Same with Dr Who. They won't miss a single episode but personally I don't like these new ones at all but I do like the old. Jon Pertwee is my favourite doctor. I find it quite embarrassing to be honest to be dressed up. When I was a Trekette - which involved dancing in Star Trek themed drag to a room full of people - I had to keep nipping up to my hotel room to top up my coke with vodka to sum up the nerve Wink And at the particular event in my avatar, I had changed out of my friend's Odo costume through embarrassment and then had a bit of a break and went to mingle in the crowd and see Rene - who is my favourite character from my favourite series of star Trek, DS9 - and it was actually him that convinced me to put it back on so he could give me that free pic (they weren't supposed to allow photography). He was a lovely guy, very down to earth.

I'm gonna be in Birmingham for a weekend around the 20th Nov for the comic con if anyone's interested?

I think I can make that.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean? Darwinian/ogg said it was the 25th Oct in London. Is there more than one event, and not just London?

Right... this is getting complicated... you and downbeatplumb going to the London one and London being doable for rob, and stu going to the Birmingham one a month later and that being more convenient for Stimbo. And no idea yet if anyone else would be interested in going to either. How are we gonna organise this thing?

Well, all I can say is the myself and downbeatplumb are planning to go to Comic Con London Excel Centre on the 25th of Oct. If anyone else wants to meet up there then that would be fun.

Not sure who or what I'm going as yet but it will definitely involve long hair and probably my Fourth Doctor hat Big Grin

We may also be going to the Brighton event as my daughter wants to do both.

But yes, if some of us are going to meet up something needs to be organised, at least vaguely.

I've just messaged my friend and he's not planning on going to anything this year but he's under the impression that there isn't going to be a London event this year because they've moved it to Brighton  Huh But you're going to both... are you sure the London one's on?

ETA: Forget it. It's definitely on. The one in Brighton's called Film and Comic Con, and is moved from London, but there's another in London called MCM comic con, and that's the one you're going to.
