Plato's "soul" may exist and therefore there is a creator. I am a temporary Atheist and waiting for a new religous belief system based on Plato's ideals.

If you're atheist for the right reasons, you don't believe in an immortal soul.

You got me.  I was about to say yes I do know how to be an atheist and make sense of a soul - and I can show you how to do it too.  But no, no immortal soul.  Sorry, fresh out.

I don't personally believe in souls, but even if it turns out they exist, that is not proof of god, just of souls.

It is presented under the template of Plato's argument and presentation in his various dialogues. So, your response would mean there is no "soul" but another thing at play.

"soul" --> One of the religions given to mankind on Earth is valid.

Another thing --> We continue to live after death in another form. This has nothing to do with Plato's definition of soul or the various religions on Earth.

Lol, what a great poll

1) Yes
2) No, because I have the wrong opinion
3) Plato
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Hello, Epicurus of Samos actually suggested that the soul dies when the physical body dies.

This poll seems to be assuming people generally talk about this specific kind of soul with these specific implications. That is clearly false. In fact, I've never even heard of it before in all the years of "souls" people have drivelled on to me about, many of whom are atheists.

Here is my point:

You could have virtues without believing in a "soul". It is very simple.

And God exists, too! He's defined as that one short sighted refrigerator repair guy named Bob from Trenton.
Derp.

Sorry but what is with your obsession with what the ancients had to say?  Whateverist the White of Berkeley said it too.  Why is what Epicurus or Samos said more important that what I said?  Were they made of more precious stuff?

Don't get me wrong.  It is nice to give credit to those whose ideas influenced your own.  But I'm quite certain that we today are every bit as capable of thinking things through as anyone at any other time.

Frankly it comes off as insecurity that what you have to say won't be taken seriously standing on its own.  You need to become much more full of yourself.   Rolleyes
