I've been watching the fires and have been shocked and saddened at the destruction.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
That's pretty crazy. I wonder if these people were escaping or just trying to get some "cool" footage.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
Damn. I was going to say the roadway was particularly well lit. But then I realized it could have been shot at noon for all I know. Know fires in my neck of the woods but my aunt took photos from around Ashland, Oregon where the sky looked like piss from the smoke. My sister north of Spokane, Washington has also been having to keep an eye on nearby fires. Hopefully those two areas are under control by now.
Not too many fires yet in my area, but it's still only September and we're just coming off the heatwave.
That video scared the shit out of me, I do have to say.
Nolite te bastardes carborundorum.
That was nightmarish.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
It really looks like the nature is dying.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
I'm sure it was hard to breath with all that smoke. I can't imagine being in that fire.

My heart breaks for the old growth trees, and all the fleeing wildlife, as well as the people and their homes. I heard fires were getting perilously close to the giant Sequoias, too?
Gat out of hell.
