Alternate route? Yeah... they don't exist when the fires are as wild as this. That was probably the safest route they could take, TBH.

It's weird to think this happens every year. Florida has hurricane season, and California has forest fire season.

Well, that video doesn't show the extent of the fire but it's kinda hard to believe this is the only road in California leading to the same destination.

First: California is huge. If you grasp that, you will understand why "the only road in California" is a ridiculous sentiment.
Second: The video is of a wildfire in a
valley which pretty much only has
one road running next to it. The video shows the only way in and out.

It's not just forest fires; I live on the coast and we get them here. Plus, most of California is a great-big desert, and we're in a drought. Fires aren't picky around these parts.
