Exactly.  It's not only an outrageous level of assumed superiority, it's PITY.  They're looking at me like "oh you poor deluded thing"!   They seem to think that I am somehow brain-damaged because I see no evidence of their imaginary friend, and somehow I don't see the glowing holy halo emanating from the book that gawd is supposed to have written himself just to save us.

When their religion affects my life. (Kim Davis, for example). Otherwise, I have no desire to get into it with a theist. It's not generally productive, and usually becomes ugly and generally disrespectful at some point.

Their commonplace dishonesty -- not all, but altogether too many -- and the way they impute opinions and attitudes I don't hold or feel.

When they show up here acting as if we need them to "save" us with their bullshit religion and eternity fantasies it is very easy to unload on them.

You got that right. This is what I mean by ugly and disrespectful.

I have had that argument before. I've been proselytized to under the cloak of caring--I care about you SO much that I will tell you why you are wrong and I am right and know better than you. It does kind of make a person want to punch them in the solar plexus.

If I start I wont stop! Was only going to mention that when I was in the mix my blog was called "Killing Creationists," when I ran across this gem here - which sums it up nice-nice.

Scientists don't make a lot of money. There are far more lucrative professions but scientists can be quite passionate about educating and increasing our awareness and knowledge of the world. So for creationists to take their good work and abuse it to achieve the opposite is quite disgusting.

Special pleading. It's ok for Yahweh to be a hypocrite, as long as they don't have to admit what he does is blatantly evil. It would be considered evil if anyone else did it, but when it's him its ok. That's pretty much the definition of hypocrite.
