70 cops have been killed on the job thusfar in 2017 (according to cops...who sometimes list cops driving squad cars drunk as deaths in the line of duty..but ignore that for a moment - that number actually includes heart attacks and car crashes....and police dogs.... for example). Amusingly, the cops managed to crush that in the number of people they killed in february alone. Being a cop isn't a particularly dangerous job. I'm twice as likely to "die in the line of duty".... as a farmer, for example. Not for nothing..they have a reasonable expectation of being the most heavily armed and armored person in any given room. If they spent more time fearing for the lives of the people they may mistakenly kill.......we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

I'd actually be willing to count police dog deaths in that total, though the other stuff is rather silly.

Psh, puppy mill round every corner. I regard K9 units as disposable as a drone. The cops have taken what's awesome about a dog and turned it into a tool of oppression. It's almost as if there isn't anything a cop -can't- fuck up. The point of their inclusion is to bloat the numbers. 12 btw, of the 70..were dogs. This helps police unions and politicians sell the idea that police work is more dangerous than it is, by orders of magnitude.
If they want to roll that way, though, fine, I say take their pistols away and give them all dogs. Hell of alot easier to stitch up a dog bite and send someone to trial than it is to deal with 47 gunshot wounds to the chest. On their end, I;m sure the cops would rather a handful of dogs die than their human buddies.

I never thought to look up what jobs really have the highest mortality rate. Cops don't even make the top ten.

I understand, I don't think they start out that way, or that all dogs are that way...but a police dog is trained to be so and used as such...so.

Just read that part and let it marinate that the mother fucker is only being charged with a fucking misdemeanor for the VIOLENT RAPE of two children for SEVEN fucking YEARS.
Can't wait to see how life in prison fares for him. Convicts don't take kindly to child rapists or bad cops. Even worse when the two are one in the same person. Better hope for his sake he doesn't drop the soap.
