That's actually a quote from a Monty Python movie. Everybody stole it.
Ahh....I really need to see those movies. Noodly1 used to watch clips from them with me over skype but I still haven't seen any of the whole movies. D:
Seems like they're all probably very funny.

But people don't, not really. Rationally determining what is most likely to be true is not the same thing as choosing what to believe. There are plenty of people who have tried to 'choose to believe' in a god but have failed because they were unable to lie to themselves in the face of an overwhelming lack of evidence.
I don't believe in god therefore I am an atheist and always have been. I never thought "you know what I won't believe in god now", I just didn't believe.
You can even change your mind about something but you cannot choose to, you must be persuaded or come to a realisation.
You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

I've seen the main ones, and they are extremely funny, not to mention the director, and only American member of Monty Python, Terry Gilliam, is fantastic. I nearly pissed myself the first time I saw this...

The end of that "The Black Knight Always Triumphs!" scene reminds me of the fundies who post how they're constantly winning fights and the rest of us atheists are running scared, even after they've been repeatedly dissected by those troublesome things we like to call facts. They just say "no it isn't!" and keep right on yelling slogans at us.
It's amusing in movie form. Not so much in the forum.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost
I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

It's actually probably a better metaphor for the discussions here than the pigeon-playing-chess one.

Nobility! Just the high nobility out and about. Yes, I am a Killingsworth. My father is a Killingsworth and so is my mother.
"Nobility", eh?
I ain't buying it. Goodbye, liar.

You need to brush up on your lying.
In the intro thread your state: "As a child (male) I had a problem accepting God and decided that the whole thing seemed rather childish so I devoted to atheism immediately. After a longhaul of 25 years or so of atheism I finally decided to start accepting God.
Then in this thread, post #74 you state: "As for my family, I am 30 and I live with my parents ".
So, at 5 years old you decided god was childish and devoted to atheism?
Not a very good POE that can't lie effectively.
