A former co-worker of my husband:
"Satan planted dinosaur bones in the earth to confound the minds of people and turn them away from God."

I've heard that argument from multiple sources.

Apparently Satan is really powerful and god isn't, or isn't paying attention.  So much for all knowing and/or all powerful.

Maybe Satan planted God in the bible to turn people away from dinosaurs.

That actually seems very credible because God comes with all sorts of moronically hucksterish enticements, while dinosaurs are content to on their own merit.

Again, substitute in any other religion and the argument still "works".
