RE: My Proper Introduction
Hi Jaxxie, nice to meet you Smile

It sounds like your bullshit-ometer was just too much for all the garbage. Well done on sticking with reality, and I'm glad to hear atheism has lifted that weight from you.

Well damn.

Welcome to the forums! I'm afraid the stupidity of religion will be quite frequently here as well, but you don't have to suffer alone.

Welcome aboard.

Please fasten your seat belts whenever the craft is taking off or landing.
Also, turn off all electronic devices, for they may interfere with the onboard systems.
In case of cabin pressure loss, oxygen masks will automatically fall from the overhead panel. Tighten them around your face and breathe normally.
Under your seat, you will find the life vest. Put it on, in case you must exit the craft after an emergency landing in water. The vest can also be used as a flotation device.

Please take the time to read the leaflet with these and other safety instructions.

Have a nice flight to Sanity!

Glad you're here! Welcome to the world of sanity. Smile

I grew up in Georgia until the age of 11, but on the opposite side of the state, on St. Simon's Island. However, one of my uncles lives in Atlanta (and just retired as Chief Pilot of Atlantic Southeast Airlines, now called ExpressJet, based out of ATL).

My mom retired this year from being a department head and professor at a Southern Baptist private university in Louisiana, so trust me I know all too well the social pressure and demonization effects of coming out as an atheist. The good news is that it does get easier, once you realize that it's them, not you, who are at fault. They're terrified of a person who has freed her mind, since deep down I think they know the trap that their religion represents; that's why they have to constantly engage in those cult-like activities, so they can reassure one another that their voluntary slavery is somehow a good thing.

You are lucky to be married to a nonbeliever, and I think you'll find a comfortable place in the community, here. We're actually pretty remarkable, when you're accustomed to dealing with the Crazy American Christian society... we don't have sexism, or homophobia, or scientific ignorance, or fear of the unknown, and you get to see the contrast spelled out clearly in the arguments with our "guests", every day.

Welcome to AF! Smile
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Welcome Jenn!

Preachers kid huh. Growing up, the preachers kids I knew always had the most interesting takes on life, at least in my experience. Looking forward to your posts!
