Christians think they have special rights
October 29, 2015 at 12:00 am
I think we can all come to agreement that the majority of Christians here in the United States believe that parts of the Constitution only applies to them and such.
I was just arguing with a Mormon friend who somehow believes that the United States is OFFICIALLY a Christian nation and should make laws based on the Christian faith. Hence that was also his argument for things such as gay marriage, pornography, Marijuana and abortion to be made illegal.
Anyways, I just have never understood where Christians here in the U.S. get this idea

Mormons, as a general rule, are dumb as a fence post to begin with.
Why don't you ask the jackass to point to that section of the constitution?

Ask him how he likes ISIS, and remind him they want a theocracy for similar things but because they're Muslim and not because they're Christian.

Most of the Protestant/Evangelicals in the Bible Belt have the same idea. They hear it over and over from their pastors, who are divinely inspired - - never mind that many of them didn't graduate from high school. They pray for the day when the US is a Theocracy, and Jesus rules not only over us . . . but the rest of the world as well. (This is after he has slaughtered all of the unbelievers - which will include some Christians, because to a lot of Evangelicals, Catholics aren't Christian. Neither are Episcopalian, Seventh Day Adventist, Mormon, Anglican, Eastern Orthodox, etc., etc.)

Of course many of them do. They think they have the highest authority in the cosmos on their side. Compared to that, what does a mere man-made Constitution matter?

They took prayer out of schools! Ur ma Gurd!
Yeah, I've heard that this was a christian nation, and the first amendment only applies to christians. Except that the only time religion is mentioned in the constitution is to say there will be no established religion, and the treaty of tripoli states outright that we are not a christian nation. Not that christians haven't been wearing the country down over the centuries to the point where the ten commandments are on the court buildings, despite the fact that only two of them are laws. It's on our money, you're not allowed to run for office in many places unless you're christian, and we've got people crying discrimination because they're not allowed to discriminate against others. The icing on the cake being that we have theocrats for presidential candidates. Fortunately Mike Huckabee and Ben Carson are likely too crazy to actually get into the White House.
