Religion continues to sink

RE: Religion continues to sink
It's all the backsliding and cherry picking scriptures.

Somebody needs to crack the whip and make them do it right.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I'm sure Christians will eventually be like "Homosexuality isn't actually against the bible. God spoke out against it at the time because he needed to populate the world. It's like how he forbids eating shrimp!" or some other bullshit that justifies them keeping their text, though at least then the text will be a little less harmful.

As much as we Americans pay lip service to the fucking Pilgrims every November, perhaps that's what we really need in this country: a widespread return to those colonial "Christian" roots professional Christian panderers like David Barton enjoy lionizing.  I'd give the experiment about two months in contemporary America before the Christians found their numbers down to around 25% of the population.

LOL, we are watching the birth of some more cherry picked scripture !!

If the church poobahs realize an article of faith is impacting the bottom line, then they will see the expediency of realigning dogma with current conditions.

Of course, I will then rail savagely against them for turning even further away from God with their liberal backsliding.

They can't win, they just can't win.

Here is a TED talk by the author AJ Jacobs on “My Year of Living Biblically”, very entertaining.

i think westboro baptist church ( which is only doing exactly what the bible says ) and other fundamentalists who are making the news like kim davis and karen miller who thinks God is going to destroy America because of gay marriage is causing people to really question how sane religion is . either religion needs to change or people are going to abandon it but if it changes that will show how unsubstantial religion actually is if it just changes with the times and according to popular opinion (as it always does) so people will see it as rediculous either way it goes liberal or fundamentalist .
Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today   FSM Grin   Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you will join us And the world will be as one  - John Lennon

Every once in a while, you actually say something rational.

Several sentences, and not a single logical fallacy.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

But what about that influx of muslims into the European countries?  Don't you think all of Europe will be Islamic in a generation?

I do worry about that. It seems that some Muslims who come over here live in self-contained communities in European countries, where they try and impose their own rules as far as they can get away with. This makes leaving the religion so much harder. (Of course, this is one of the reasons they do it.) The women I'm sure get no say in the matter.

Although it's not nearly as insular an environment as before the Internet, it's still an unhealthy shadow of it that will keep fundamentalist religion going on longer than it otherwise would.

If my observations are off, please correct me. I get the impression that law enforcement and people in general are rather reluctant to do anything about these communities, allowing them to become mini theocracies.

I do hope I'm wrong. Seriously.
