True story, more or less.

Congratulations on remaining a VSN.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
I answered "Maybe I'm capable but I've never given it serious thought" rather than "I don't believe I'd ever be capable of it except in extreme circumstances" because, you know, never say never.
Honestly, though, I've never seriously considered murdering anyone. I can't think of a single person that I hate enough to want to end their life.
On the occasions that I've imagined killing someone it's always either been in the bounds of fiction (If I were in this character's situation, how would I have done it?), in self-defense scenarios (how bad would things have to get before I felt like killing the person was my only way out of the situation?), or in the proverbial "walk a mile in their shoes" situations (What would need to happen in my life to make me do what Jeffrey Dahmer/Susan Atkins/Ted Bundy/Ed Gein did?)
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.

Unfortunately, my VSN status fell by the wayside after becoming an atheist, along with my political aspirations.

What if you are planning a final solution for the human race and it is justified?
Hey, I take inspiration from the best. I read up on Heidegger and Hitler.

As we're headed out to the WW1 memorial service soon, we've been discussing the war and how horrific it must have been to fight in it.
I feel like getting me to the stage where I could actually kill another human would involve totally breaking me psychologically. I can't bring myself to stand on a fly, even when I know it's suffering and it might be the kindest thing to do. I'm not trying to brag or say I'm special, I'm just describing how I am. There seems to be something hardwired in me that will fight to the last to stop me hurting or killing another living creature on purpose.
Feel free to send me a private message.

Murder in the legal sense or any killing, i.e. self-defense, property protection or war.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. There are some things we don't want to know. Important things.
