There are still around 100 people in there with an unknown number of terrorists with an unknown number of dead. 2 suicide bombers were apart of the attacks too.

But yeah, fucking grim, horrible, brutal. The people that did this, I'm lost for words. Just really sad.

I just read a report on reddit from someone saying he/she escaped by crawling like other people and ran to the subway. The person describe being in fear and crawling like an isect for his/her life. Whether it was legit or not it was emotional and sad to read

Jesus the more I read the worse it gets. I was confused why the police stormed the concert hall so quickly after the siege had begun, but it's now obvious there was nobody left to save. Just, lost for words.

It's not that I'm for unlimited immigration, it's only that I despise these rightwingers just as much as I despise these Islamist lunatics. It's not the Europe I voted for, if these abominations get their way. And no, I don't feel protected by them. The only feeling I get when they're talking about pulling up new borders, is a deep sense of revulsion. The EU can just as well pack up and leave, if it's reduced to economic liberty.

I seem to remember, you wanting to leave Portugal for the UK. Well, good luck with that under Cameron, who's even a moderate, compared to what raises their turd heads in the rest of Europe.

Europe teeters on the edge of a knife. We can only hope it doesn't go the way some people want it to. I've had quite enough of nationalism and feverous patriotism, as I assumed Europe had after the unfortunate incidents of last century. Then again, most people who lived through all that are now dead, and people seem to forget so easily.
I quit that idea, I'm now looking at former colonies of Portugal for a job - Good prospects, nice salaries, common tongue - I'm don't determine my preference for an ideology based on the fact that it's extremist - BTW, keep in mind what is extremist is only considered so by the current system - Liberalism was once considered extremist compared to absolutism, but it's now the norm - In different countries, different ideologies will be labeled as extreme. What matters to me is not if something is extremist but whether it is right or wrong in the first place - If I objectively proved that something extremist was right, would the fact that it is extreme in the current conjecture be the reason you reject it? I'm not really interested in nationalism as much as I'm in the destruction of the pseudo-political EU and the excuses it makes to propagate neo-liberalism, and whatever route must be taken I'll gladly support it as long as it's the least bad. I hope I don't offend you, but right now people who are causing the most harm to society are not far-right or far-left people, but moderate liberal politicians who worship corporations. Anything that gets us out of this infinitely self-destructive hellhole will have my support.

Being realistic, you only have to do the math - If the majority of the population doesn't directly suffer from a far-right gov as much as from a centrist one, then they'll vote for that one.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time France has closed borders since WWII. Belgium also closed borders, and we're yet to see if other European States follow lead. 140 killed confirmed, plus wounded. All my relatives and friends are alright though.

I think this tragedy probably has the same magnitude as 9/11 for Americans. I didn't understand 9/11 back then because I was a kid, but I recall watching it on TV. Now I understand better, I feel scared and shocked even though I'm not French and don't live in France.

Pretty much how I feel too. As I said in a previous post I have strong links to Paris with family, but I dread to think how Parisians and the French in general feel. I feel helpless because there's nothing I can do, but I'm worried about the further implications that might come about as a result.

Think you're right re: 9/11 comparison. I think Parisians have been on edge since Charlie and this coming almost a year later has certainly not helped. Hollande has come out with fighting talk if you've seen his recent speech outside the Bataclan.

I was in 33 when that happened and 8 years later Bush had wrecked the economy with his John Wayne response.  Which is why I say I hope France and Europe don't respond in a similar manor.

Supposedly France has been on (high?) alert since Hebdo attack, and monitoring scads of suspects 24/7 and yet it still happened.

The French president saw the flash and heard the boom of one of the suicide bombers, not sure how much more of a wake up call could be engineered for their government.

I only heard about the attacks this evening. Vile, atrocious, just despicable beyond belief. Some raw emotions here, lots of stuff I want to say regarding these pathetic, psychotic thugs hailing from the armpit of the world, but I'll abstain.

I can see WW111 happening sooner rather than later. It'll be Islam vs the world.

Ha, do you though? The parasites get everywhere. I'm sure some of them won't be satisfied until they've drained and fucked up every major city of the world.

Regarding this incident, I'm just sipping tea at the minute. Still waiting for all the details to emerge. Bring on the backlash from all sides I guess
