Yeah, I always have.

I'm not sure if celebrate is the right word, it's just an arbitrary time of year to have some merriment, decorations, presents and special yum-yums.

I don't think it's hypocritical at all. If you were thanking baby Jesus or something, I would call that more insane than hypocritical, especially for an atheist Tongue

Historically, Christmas has become a tradition when you devout yourself to being with family and friends more than anything. I don't know many people who care about Jesus, they just want to be with family and offer gifts, have vacation from work, eat and drin and laugh. We all need those

Rob, if Christians sit around and say prayers at Christmas time at the dinner table like it's for real, why can't atheists do the same but knowing it's just a bit of fun?
Nothing crazy about that. The only crazy part is believing it is real.

Technically, I suppose I don't celebrate it so much as 'observe' it. I can't imagine a December without the anticipation of Jesus coming down the chimney to leave me a chocolate Q'ran and a Ganesh action figure.

Oh sure, of course they can Smile Have fun, say and do whatever you like!

I meant if you're sincerely thanking some dead baby, that would be weird.

Christmas is a commercial holiday. I celebrate it for the same reason I think most other people do, because it's fun.

I celebrate Christmas because it's the one time of year where all of my family get together to drink, eat, exchange gifts, fight like buggery and eat sprouts.

It's origins are multiple, do I care which version of it anyone else is attributing it to?  No, but I do enjoy the time spent.

Any excuse to bring family together is a good excuse! Let's call it Christmas, who cares about the name.

Yes. It holds no religious meaning, but I do like decorating a tree with pretty, sparkly ornaments, going to look at all the pretty decorated houses and baking yummy goodies. Really, I just like having an excuse to have some glittery things around for a few weeks that my husband doesn't find objectionable Tongue
