Oh I'm sorry to hear that I didn't think it was that bad
It was long for my Dad as well, he had his illness for years. It's horrible seeing them get to a point where they don't have the energy to do much, you feel so helpless
We're here for you as always

Then followed numerous strokes and three major heart attacks. He finally passed away in 1995. We think that towards the end, he was in stage 4 of Alzheimer's. It's hard having to watch a parent like that.
I'm sorry you had to go through that, Nymph.
Alzheimer's is particularly rough; a long, long goodbye.
My dad had mild Parkinson's and was actually high-functioning for quite a long time. As he's advanced in age, the decline's become been more rapid. The related dementia's been a silver lining, though, because this guy actually doesn't get what's going on with him.
Yesterday, he grumbling about me missing the bus and having to take me to school, yet again. When I told him I was 38 and drive now, he just raised an eyebrow and said...
"Alright. You can take me to work, then.
Don't wreck my car."
"I've got it, man. No problem."

Thanks, Thump.
Such is life, ain't it? His particular illness caused a slow decline over a couple of decades.
He's had a good run, and is blissfully unaware that he can't actually do much anymore.
It could be much worse.
It's a tough row you're hoeing, Thena. If you ever need to unload, I'm a call or PM away.

Thank you, so much. It really is good to know that.
BTW:
Your post was an unintentional goldmine of you-know-what.
I resisted the urge.
That was no easy task.

But -- but -- I don't know what!
(Meaning, it was entirely unintentional in this case!)

That's definitely a contender for the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.
