So is crucifiction a bad or a good thing?
December 13, 2015 at 6:10 am
Because on one hand, you get christians acting like it's the single most horrible thing in the world to happen to anyone, that it's the most anyone could suffer (ignoring all the people before and after Jesus who died the same way because reasons) etc., with the RCC charging the entirety of Jewish people with deicide for a long time, but on the other hand, that was all god's plan, it was necessary and we should be grateful for it because it was the only way to go to heaven, it had to happen??
Which is it ffs??

To answer the main question, yeh crucifixion is bad. The idea is that God is sending down his own son to be sacrificed and treated badly. It wouldn't have been as dramatic of a story, or a sacrifice, if god sent his son down to chill out, have a nice time and chat to people about God.
The contradiction, which you mentioned, is really that the Jews were bad for killing Jesus, even though that was supposedly God's plan.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.

It's like the Judas thing, which entered into culture as the ultimate in betrayal - and by a character conveniently named for a whole people - yet was allegedly all part of the plan. Or to put it another way: plot hole.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

It was all just a plot by God to get Bach to write some awesome dramatic music, as far as I am concerned.

Crucifixion is neither good nor bad in the case of Jesus. The whole point was for God to incarnate and then die. Jesus could have been run over by an ox cart, or eaten some lamb past the sell-by date, or even been stillborn and the theological result would have been the same. The only reason for the Crucifixion story was the marketing.

Exactly! If that was god's plan then he should be a hero.
This is worse than a Shyamalan movie

It would be cooler if he died from eating a hot pocket too soon. But I guess pointless martyrdom sells better

Getting struck by lightning and going up in a puff of smoke, now that would have been special effects!

Worst ?
How about putting Jesus in the boats, and letting him shit himself to death while insects eat his flesh for 2 weeks ??
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
