When Atheists Can't Think Episode 1: No Evidence for God?

How long should I wait for these links? I'm new around here.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Why do people want us to believe in a god anyway. I don't get it.
I think for some it's a way of making them feel better about their own belief. "See? You believe in silly things too, so we're equal!"

It's a common misspeaking, I've been guilty of it myself. Lots of things can be given as evidence, but not everything stands up to scrutiny; and whatever remains doesn't actually evidence the thing it's intended to. After all that, you need multiple points of consistent, converging evidence before you can draw a safe conclusion. This just needs repeating. ^^^^ Yes, I said no evidence. I meant no credible evidence, as Stimbo said. Holy books and sermons and apologetics and fake science - these things are not evidence.

Your link to TWO DOZEN (OR SO) THEISTIC ARGUMENTS: They are arguments. This is not data. This is not proof. And it's a pretty painful example of apologetics.

Exactly. The plural of argument is not data. We have to wonder, if only academically, why there's such an urgent need for all this logical prestidigitation if there was even the slightest atom of credible evidence to be found.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
