I didn't give up on Christianity per se, I just gave up on institutional religion in general and a lot of the normative beliefs that are required to be considered "Christian."

Now that's my favorite sort of religious nutsack. You aren't crazy like all those dumb believers who follow their pastors around like so many sheep, you are your own crazy shepherd. Why go with other people's ideas which make so little good sense when you can really up the nonsense with your own? Maybe you'll start your own church, where you can be the wolf shepherd, with your own flock to fleece. All it takes is an internet connection and a few people who will put up with your sermons as their new prophet, every time "The Spirit moves" you to write something to get you started. Also, having a guitar and knowing how to play a few chords in the song books won't hurt your new career when you buy that old warehouse and try to lure people in.

Yeah, I once made the mistake of hanging out with such a dude, and had to threaten police action to get off his email list.
