It's odd that someone would think they have it all figured out, but that can be attributed to the ego. It also isn't odd because people tend to believe in what they do based on perceived perception of authority figures whoever they personally believe that to be. Something I'm starting to learn while here on this forum is that atheists have their faith just as everyone does, and it's hard to change, just as it is for everyone. The difference would be they call it the rational understanding and belief in the system of collective knowledge based on science and government. There's also apparently a hierarchy and many variants of atheism. I would attribute it to the human experience we all share, since we all have an ego and opinion. Almost like I've bonded with you all, although you would think we are polar opposites.

Well soon I'll start talking again about the vibration that controls existence. Even science knows everything is vibration, from sound to light, to matter, and energy. I've been around, and have the patience.

I also need to add that we all have a confirmation bias, even me. And I'm not perfect, and shouldn't judge anyone. I'm here to learn and share.

Emphasis mine. I'd like to see some examples of where every one of us has claimed to have all the answers.

Sceptics are honest enough to say "we don't know". People like you claim to have answers you can't support, and we point out that they are unsupported. We don't even need to say you're wrong, just that your reasoning is wrong.

Here's an anecdote for you, as you're so fond. I was in the garden the other day, feeding the rabbits. My wife questioned me after I came back in, and asked why I stopped and stared into the distance for a few minutes. I said, "What? I didn't do that?" But apparently I did. I remember stopping to think for what seemed like 5 seconds. The point is, our own memory of events can be extremely unreliable.

I'm sure people will quote this great anecdote two thousand years from now and pray to you and your rabbits.

This sounded funnier in my head somehow. Oh, well.

Too right, it is. For example, I can clearly remember riding my bacon-festooned unicycle in the nuddy while juggling anesthetized hedgehogs and singing a song about grackles during the coronation of King Ethelred The Big Fan Of Onions, but my nearest and dearest insist that this never happened.

Well, I believe you. That sounds like just the sort of thing you'd do Tongue

Let me use an analogy here. There is a massive jar of sweets, so many it's impossible to be able to tell how many are in there without tipping them all out and counting.

Some guy says to me, "How many sweets are in there?"

I say, "I don't know."

"There are 387,524 sweets in there."

"How do you know that?"

"We all have different beliefs."

"Hum, okay. But why do you believe that?"

"Well how many are there then?"

"I said, I don't know."

"See? So there's 387,524."

"No. Just because I don't know, it doesn't mean a made up answer is valid."

"There could be that many sweets."

"Yes, there could be. But you're claiming that there actually is."

"Well if you don't know how many are in there, how can you say I'm wrong?"

"I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying there's no reason to think you're right. Who are you anyway? Fuck off."

But telling the doctor specific information about the procedues used and nurses that may have come and gone that the doctor admits is accurate is more impressive. I've heard a few stories about that.
People under anesthesia can sometimes hear what is happening around them, and people who are dreaming often incorporate what they hear into their dreams (I stopped leaving the radio on while asleep after I dreamed my dad was pitching Sam Adams beer). You can tell a lot about what is going on by listening. In an operating theater, doctors usually give a blow-by-blow account of their activities.

I just don't find this at all remarkable, given our knowledge about people under anesthesia being able to hear.
