Got it.

Word is official results won't be in tonight.

Looks like the delegates will be split down the middle. Not great for Bernie, but terrible news for Clinton. She was ahead in the polls, the entrance poll had her winning by more than 5% and her lead shrank continuously over the course of the night.

The Iowa system rewards 'commitment.'  You actually have to get off your ass and go to the caucus for a few hours.

Trump learned last night that fans will only go so far.

If it's worth anything conservatives in Iowa also have a record of voting for the most religious/evangelical candidate. (Romney, Santorum, etc.)

The really bad news out of Iowa is that apparently democratic voter turnout was way down, by about 170k.  This suggests that neither campaign is exciting democrats which is a bad sign.  Democrats need high (relatively) voter turnout to win.

Really? I've heard different things. A few caucus locations ran out of registration forms because so many people turned up. One caucus in Des Moines were expecting 160 people and 469 showed up.

My bad, 170,000 showed up, down from 2008's - the last time there was no incumbent - record of 236,000.  A decline of nearly 30%.

The total participating on both sides was a measly 15% of the electorate which is another commentary on the state of politics in the country.

Iowa is trending Repub.  The Repub candidate should win it in November.

I'm just speculating, but the continuous TV commercials, entire forests full of trees pulped and turned into political fliers clogging our mail boxes, and multiple polling calls every day may have left pretty much everyone saturated to the gills on all things caucus related.

The weather has been bad enough to at least spare us an onslaught of fucking yard signs.
