Speaks the man who has cherry picked his own religion. Kept the parts of Hinduism and Buddhism he liked, mixed in a bit of Wicca, and voila!

1. It can drive people to be hypocritical, i.e. a Christian threatening to kill/actually killing an atheist even though killing is a sin.
2. It creates closed minds, i.e. most religious people. 3. It creates idiots, i.e. fundamental Christians, people who cherry pick. 4. It can cause people to oppress people of other religions/the same religion, i.e. Hitler's Germany, the Middle East. 5. It can drive people to do crazy things, i.e. 9/11, Virginia Tech shootings, Texas Board of Education rewriting U.S. history, Catholic priests molesting children and then trying to get immunity over the state. 6. It can cause people to lose things, i.e. someone losing custody of their kids because they are an atheist, someone losing their job because they are an atheist. 7. Promotes evil, i.e. the Bible/other religious texts promote slavery, etc. 8. Waste time, i.e. someone praying for God to cure AIDS instead of joining an organization to cure AIDS. 9. It can cause death, i.e. 9/11, the Pope saying not to use condoms if you have AIDS because condoms are "against God". P.S. I'll add more when I think of it. This is just off the top of my head. You don't believe in self-determinism and reincarnation, or the concept that everything is alive and part of the creator? Cause those concepts are found in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Wicca. Ooops, did I just catch you out on some of your lies, Mr. Poe? Gee, I'm sorry.

No you don't understand. I don't follow those religions.

No I didn't say that I picked parts out of them. (July 10, 2010 at 9:14 pm)Godhead Wrote: In this mind - That's because you aren't being honest. If you were honest, you'd admit that you learned about the concepts mentioned, decided you liked them, and built your religion around them. But since you didn't want to subscribe to other aspects of the faiths, you took only those parts you liked and left the rest to create a hodge-podge bit of pseudo-babbling faith all your own. Which is why I used the term 'cherry-pick'. You picked the parts you liked, such as the reincarnation, self-determination, every man is part of the whole and thus a god/God, and ignored the rest because you wanted to make your own unyk! religion so you could be special and because you arbitrarily decided you were the only person in the whole of the world who could possibly grok the Truth, when in reality you are just another loon looking for a comet.

How long exactly have you been an atheist? |
