Because of what then?

Theism is not the same thing as religion.  I mean...duh.  EP, I don't understand for the life of me why you are dragging this out; it's just stupid.

Theism is a form of religion by definition. That doesn't mean religion only includes theism.

RE: Antitheism
No it isn't, as you've been shown in this thread time and time again..by having people link you the definitions.

If -you- define theism as a religion personally (and that's fine) then ofc there can be no theism without religion, it would be tautology.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Religion - the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.

Theism -belief in the existence of a god or gods, especially belief in one god as creator of the universe, intervening in it and sustaining a personal relation to his creatures.

How is the second definition not included in the first?

It is not as a religion that theism is defined as, but as a form of religion.

RE: Antitheism
Deism is the offspring of theism, as is atheism. You have neither(deism or atheism) without theism. And neither have any meaning without theism. It is in that sense that belief in god is implicitly religious, disbelief in god is an opposition to religion, and antitheism is an opposition to religion as well.

Opposition being defined as resistance or dissent, expressed in action or argument

I find your definitions to be self serving and non-representative, so it doesn;t matter much to me whats included in either portion of the other. As I've said, if you've created a tautology for yourself then fine. Own it.

The post directly above spun out of control and into full retard.....but now that I see what kinds of data you began with that's unsurprising. Garbage in, garbage out.

How exactly do you have god without religion, if theism is a form of religion, and theism means belief in God?

Like this: I believe in a creator God. My God is purple, he has horns, and he blew the universe out of his ass with a giant, cosmic fart. I feel in my heart that he will keep me safe as long as I continue to believe in him. There. No organized religion necessary. No other person in the world even needs to know about my personal theistic concept. Why is that so hard?

These are not my definitions. These are definitions I find in dictionaries.

Good for you, we can all dictionary hop, of course...and misrepresent even those pet definitions we find....huh? They're far too imprecise for the conversation you're trying to have. Specifically in that you are attempting to discuss as seperate subjects two things which your own definitions would consider to be equivalent. You're essentially asking me whether or not you could cats without cats..... as though this represented a cogent thought or could elicit a coherent response.

But we weren't talking about organized religion. We were talking about mere religion. Which is defined as the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. So insofar as you believe in God, you are religious. You can't be non-religious and believe in God. You can certainly claim to pull something like that off, but that is a different thing altogether.
