I think "and worship of" is where the distinction can be made. I can believe in my fart blowing God, and perhaps love him, without any form of ritualistic worship.

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
I can believe a giant leprechaun created the universe if I want to. That doesn't make it a religion.

Yes, but the worship coupled with the belief came first. Deism is relatively new in historical terms. It is by necessity religious in origin. RE: Antitheism

Deism is most definitely not new...not even relatively...and certainly not in historical terms, lol. Perhaps you're only familiar with the deism of the founding fathers of the US or some shit..you think they were originators?

But if that's true, then I'm wrong.
Meaning I don't have to worship it, that is.

You'll need more specific definitions for both than those you've previously expressed, if you'd like to look. The various proposals for gods relationship to man, and vv.......are sort of complicated if only for their vast breadth. Understanding whether a god is deistic or theistic (or any of the wide grey area in between) is going to be very difficult unless we describe exactly what we're looking for from the outset.

That doesn't change the fact that I can still believe in something and not worship it. What if I say I believe in aliens, and I believe they abduct humans and perform experiments on them? Are you saying that by default my belief in aliens also constitutes my religion? That makes no sense.
