Indeed, loudly and openly decrying the one -anywhere-, whilst quietly and manipulatively attempting to conceal the other -in their midst-.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I don't get why you'd want to be told what your opinion is about something. And the chances of just happening to agree with all their teachings... seems rather slim.
But then, if you've been indoctrinated with it all, it's kind of moot.

It could be said that deep down, we want for answers, so in that sense we do want to be told our opinions when we have, ourselves, failed to adequately form them.

Personally it makes sense to me that "there is a God who created the vast cosmos and yet cares deeply about what a certain species of primate does behind closed doors while naked."
Jesus is like Pinocchio. He's the bastard son of a carpenter. And a liar. And he wishes he was real.

Same goes for all the other doctrines.
Feel what way about gays? We are supposed to "feel" about them the same way we feel about everyone else - which is to love. "May he who has never sinned cast the first stone," and all that. Especially since I said being gay is not immoral.
As for homosexual activity, yes, a practicing/devout Catholic should adhere to official Church doctrines regarding faith and morals, and that includes Church teaching on human sexuality - in which we believe sex is reserved for husband and wife. Of course, any Catholic has the right to not believe in it if they don't want to, but then they would be what you guys call Cafeteria Catholics - not devout/practicing.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I understand where you're coming from, and yes, it does seem like a lot of teachings. But in the end a lot of them really do go together... they all pretty much come down to a few basic principles, if you think about it.
And I've been told what my opinion should be by a lot of different people/etc. Even here, I am told what my opinion should be almost all the time. That's what living in our society entails. However, of all the voices telling me what I should and should not think, I chose to believe in the Church. It makes sense to me. It's not a blind follow.

No, what those people did was clearly against fundamental Church teaching. They did it because they were pedophiles and were attracted to children (not to mention monsters), not because they were Catholic. Same goes for the cowards who covered it up.

It was the church that covered it up though. And the Pope has done nothing about it. So either the church is a "Do as I say, not as I do" hypocrites who aren't worthy of speaking about ANYTHING regarding sexuality. Or they're pedophile approving bigots who also aren't worthy of speaking about ANYTHING regarding sexuality.

It was people within the higher ups of the Church yes. But again, it has nothing to do with Catholic Theology. There are always going to be bad people who are Catholic, even cardinals and popes. They weren't the first bad ones, and they won't be the last.
